Normani awoken to the new dawn with a tiredly yawn, uncertain of her surroundings until yesterday's event rejuvenated into her conscious causing the mother to run her soft hands through her brown locs. Getting off the blue bed, her brown eyes scan the grey room till they land on her peacefully snoozing daughter. A small smile placed onto her lips fore she gives Nala a peck on her forehead and stumbles her way out of the room.
As she walked down the narrow corridor and into the living area, her eyes land onto the fire fighter drinking what appears to be coffee while gazing at the brightly lit laptop. Although the sun is still rising, casting its light onto the planet, the abode still held a dimly lit aura. Knocking on the wall to make her presence known, the mother walks over to the fire fighter.
"Do you have any extra toothbrushes?" Normani asks, clearing her throat to shake off any fatigue still lingering.
"Oh right, in the closet there." Dinah pointed to a door isolated in the kitchen.
Normani treads across the wooden floor and to the closet, opening the rather clean door to reveal a stock of supplies. Her eyes scanned what she could view, landing on two things; the toothbrushes and honey roasted peanuts. Obtaining the treat and toothbrushes, a spark of the past clouds her before she decides to take the item as well. Closing the door, Nala comes sprinting out of the room, her mood immediately relaxing when she spots her mother.
"Good morning, Mommy." She hugs Normani's legs and the mother smiles down at her daughter.
"Good morning princess, look what I found?" Normani rattled the treat.
"Woah! I haven't had those in so long." Nala's expression holding pure joy, ushering for the treat but Normani waves her finger side to side.
While pregnant, the older woman had an addictive craving to the treat prior to giving birth. Nala, at the age of three, had correspondingly developed said craving. Soon after the youth began her schooling, she had gradually forgotten about the snack.
"You can have some if you brush your teeth first." Normani negotiated whilst handing a toothbrush to her daughter.
Nala flashes her teeth before acquiring the handed item, "Deal!" She nods then skips away, back to the bedroom.
Once assured that her daughter is complying to the request, Normani assesses the apartment a little more. Her brown eyes lands on a second bathroom, just across the rather spacious grey kitchen, opting to brush her teeth there since Nala's occupying the bedroom's bathroom. Once concluded with their dental hygiene as Normani first veers towards Dinah, observing her still in work-mode. She knock her knuckles on the coffee table securing Dinah's attention then gestures to the fridge.
"I'll cook since you are busy, is your fridge stocked or is it for show?" She asks, obvious sarcasm laced in her tone.
"It's stocked." Dinah nods, ignoring the low jab.
"And in date?" Normani then rose an eyebrow.
The maiden nevertheless couldn't grasp the reality of her current situation. From attempting to obtain a stable and secure life with her troublesome child, to conceding then abiding in a fire station belonging to a potential Demi-God with her potential Demi-God daughter.
"Most of it, we eat too you know..." Dinah side eyes the woman and she only nods, slowly.
"Just wondering." Normani waves off and heads into the kitchen.
Countless moments then pass til Nala reenters the living room, waltzing towards the giant multi-stained windows of the fire station. The sun had risen slightly above the horizon, beaming its rays of light through the stained glass displaying a colorful beautifully art onto the floor putting a bright smile on the youngster's face. As Nala skips to the black couch where Dinah sits, she nabs the snack her mother had situated on the coffee table fore positioning herself on the couch.
"My momma is a great cook. Food's always so yummy." Nala spoke after popping open her treat.
"How old are you?" Dinah also side eyes the youth.
"I'm six!" Nala huffed.
"Why are you speaking like that?" Dinah then asks.
"You a meanie Dinah, I just woke up." Nala protested while Dinah feels a glare from the mother obligating to quitting her bantering antics.
An additional forty minutes passes when Dinah and Normani both complete their task. With a call from the maternal figure, each gathering at the glass table where steamy prepared meals on white glass plates were set. Normani snags Dinah's empty cup of coffee, she confirmed from the smell, refilling it while simultaneously preparing herself a glass of water and orange juice for Nala. Once everything is settled, Normani's phone commences its ringing from the bedroom beguiling a sigh from the mother. Her daughter sprints off to the direction of sound after noticing the faint sigh from her mother to retrieve the disturbance. Normani sits in the rather high chairs, her gaze flickering to Dinah seeing as the Demi-God places the metal fork between her pink lips.
"It's delicious, if that's what you were waiting for." Dinah suddenly spoke, nor contracted her eyes from the food but captured a blush from the other woman.
"I wouldn't ask for your opinion." Normani quickly looked away while crossing her arms. Before the fire fighter had the opportunity to respond, Nala rejoins the duo while speaking to the caller. "Whom?" Her mother questions.
"Aunt Camila." Nala responded inducing Normani to gesture for her phone effectuating a nod from the younger girl. "Okay, see you later Aunty...Love you too." She concluded their conversation then did as told.
"You've been MIA." Camila spoke first once the shuffling terminated.
"Sorry for that, something came up." Normani sighed, taking a bite of her food.
"Are you coming in?" Her coworker and dearest friend wondered, Normani eyes once again landed on Dinah.
With no indications of the risk or ruling of this complicated affair, she's only apprehensive to verity such by staying near the stranger shall ensure safety for the family of two.
"...I can yeah." Normani hesitantly responds with after receiving a thumbs up from Dinah although Nala opposed the notion.
