Chapter 2 - Exchange student

Anna's POV

I am awaken by my alarm at 7 am, so I get out of bed and put on my running clothes, to go out for a run. As I walk downstairs, I am greeted by the whole family, I look at my watch for the time, "you guys are up early" I say, which makes both Andrew and Maria laugh "oh honey we have been up for an hour, kids are all fun and games until you wake up at 6 am every day" Maria says while laughing, which makes me laugh as well. "Oh I'm so sorry, do you guys need help with anything" I ask, and they both shake their heads "you go for a run and we will have breakfast ready when you get back" Andrew says, I nod and put on my headphones and walk out the door.

I decided to do a shorter run, so after 5 km and about 30 minutes I am back home again. As I walk through the door, I smell pancakes. I walk into the kitchen, to see Maria flipping the last pancake, "wow great timing," she says as she takes the tray with pancakes and we walk into the dining room, where the rest of the family is sat.

After we all finish breakfast I help clear the table and do the dishes with Maria. I take a quick shower and get ready (outfit inspo is at the top), as Andrew asks me to sit down with him and Maria.
We sit at the dining room table and I see they have a little notepad with some scribble on it, "so we basically just wanted to talk to you about some ground rules, and what you can expect of us, but we also want your input, and want to hear what you expect" Maria says and I nod.

"Okay so for starters, we expect you to behave in front of our boys, we do not want them to start swearing, or disrespecting neither us, you or anyone for that matter" Andrew starts and I nod. "We are expecting you to help around the house, we respect that work and homework comes first, but we hope you will help making dinner, doing the dishes, cleaning, doing the laundry and helping with the boys" Maria continues, "of course, I was really expecting to help around, now that I get to live here. I honestly love cleaning and doing the laundry, so that really is no problem, also you guys have lovely boys, so if you at any time need a getaway from the boys you just tell me and I will make some fun plans for us" I answer and I can see relief on their faces.

"We want you to meet our families and also Andrew's work buddies, we really want you to be part of this family since you are going to be here for six months. Andrew is really close with his work buddies, and they are travelling a lot for their work, so you getting to know them would be important for us," Maria says and I nod. "Next, it is okay with us if you are going out to parties, and when you find friends here, have fun with them, but we would like to know when you are out partying, just so we know you will be home late" Andrew starts. "We just really care, and if you ever are in trouble when out we want you to call us, we want you to see us as a second pair of parents," Maria continues. "Exactly, when you do go out, whether it is clubbing, dates or out with friends, we do not want you to bring home a new guy every night, we do not know if you normally do that but, because of the boys we would like you not to do this." Andrew finishes.
"Do not worry about the guy thing, I normally don't do that. I actually just got out of a very long relationship, so I have actually not really been dating or bringing guys home before" I laugh, and the smile, "Oh I am sorry honey, may I ask how long?" Maria asks. "Don't worry about it, we just grew apart, we had been together for five years," I say and their eyes widen, "wow" Andrew says, "it was honestly a mutual decision" I say and they nod.

"So do you have anything you are expecting or wanting to add?" Andrew asks. "Hmmm" I start and think "Well I don't think I have anything to add, but I can tell you some things about myself and I think you might be more at ease having me here with your boys" I say and they nod. "We would like that, we honestly just want to get to know you and really hope you want the same the other way round" Maria says. "Of course, you guys have the perfect little family here" I say and smile, "well I am 22 years old, I am very calm and honestly I see myself as a very good person. I always make sure everyone around me are happy before thinking about myself. I am a very reliable person, and trust if I say I will do something it will be done. I love kids, and I was very excited when you wrote you guys have to boys. Oh my god that reminds me, I totally forgot I brought them a gift each," I say and we all laugh "well then go get it" Andrew says through his laugh, Andrew and Maria goes into the living room with the boys while I go upstairs to pick up their gifts. "So I thought since I am from Denmark I wanted you two to have a piece of Denmark" I say as I hand them both a gift wrapped in tractor paper. As the boys open the gifts their parents gasp, I got both boys a set of Legos, which would fit their age.
