Ria was on a video call with Charles, Carlos and Lando as her airplane smoothly flew out to Germany. Ben, Camila and Daniel had tearfully dropped her off at the airport that morning, saying they were going to phone her every single day and try get tickets to her matches.
"Well, when you're a World Cup winner and the most famous person on earth, don't forget about us." Lando winked at her, making her smile effortlessly.
"I could never," she replied. "especially not when you are all texting on that group chat at four in the morning and waking me up because Carlo Ancelotti had just signed some random guy no one's ever heard of and it's atrocious."
"Hey!" Carlos exclaimed, because he knew Ria's quip was directed at him. "You play for Madrid, you should be stressing out with me, not telling me to go away because you need your beauty sleep."
"Yes, I play for Real Madrid Femenio, Carlos." She reminded him, earning an eye roll in return.
"You should still care ab-"
"Shh!"
Ria looked up from her phone in her lap to see a snobby man in a pressed suit sitting on her left, glaring at her. He seemed to be trying to doze off, and Ria's chatter wasn't making it easy, so he decided to try shut her up.
Well, you did get a lot of self-righteous passengers when you were flying first-class. Something the German team insisted on, as she had quickly brushed aside the ridiculous idea of a private jet.
"I should probably go," she said and saw the expression on the three drivers' faces drop at her resign. They had really gotten to like Ria these past few weeks.
"Bye, Riri." Charles called. "Enjoy Germany. We'll definitely be at some of your matches, and I'll be watching them all on TV."
"Try not to fall in love with any new German guys or Charles will be crying himself to sleep for the next ten years." Lando called as Charles rolled his eyes.
"You guys are too good to me." Ria smiled before hanging up the phone, much to the relief of her aloof neighbor.
But just as Ria was about to switch off her phone and maybe try get some shut-eye herself, one last notification popped up that made a smile appear on her face.
