Anchored Together

Tony's Lab

The sterile glow of the lab cast long shadows across Y/N's still form. Machines hummed, filling the room with a quiet, rhythmic pulse. Tony stood at the control panel, his usual bravado tempered by a rare seriousness.

"He's in good hands, Nat," Tony said, his voice steady.

Natasha didn't respond immediately. Her eyes stayed fixed on Y/N's face, her worry evident in the slight furrow of her brow. She gently brushed a strand of hair back from his forehead, her touch soft. "Just make sure he wakes up," she muttered.

Tony's mouth quirked into a small smile, though the tension never left his features. "We're going to get him through this. I've got this."

Natasha stayed by Y/N's side, lowering her lips to his forehead, whispering, "I'll be right here when you wake up."

Day 1: The Surgery Begins

Tony's hands moved swiftly, commanding the robotic arms as they worked with precision to remove Y/N's damaged spine. Natasha stood nearby, her eyes locked on Y/N, willing him to stay with her.

"Just hang in there, Y/N," she whispered, her voice thick with emotion. "We're going to get you through this."

Tony focused entirely on the delicate procedure, ensuring every step was perfect.

Day 5: Finding Comfort

Five days into the surgery, Y/N remained unresponsive. The operation was progressing, but the silence was weighing on Natasha. She sat by Y/N's side, idly flipping open and closed his butterfly knife, lost in thought.

"Remember this?" she said softly, her voice carrying a hint of nostalgia. "You always handled this like it was part of you. I could never get the hang of it."

She glanced at Y/N's still face, her voice dropping. "You've got to come back, Y/N. We're not done yet."

Tony, catching her words, spoke up without taking his eyes off the monitors. "He's going to pull through, Nat. He's not the type to give up."

She nodded slightly but kept her focus on Y/N.

Day 10: Testing the Systems

The tenth day came, and Tony's meticulous work on the spine continued. Each component had been crafted with extreme care, tested for every possible outcome. Natasha watched intently, the quiet whirr of the robotic arms her only companion.

"Tony," she said quietly, fear slipping into her voice, "what if he doesn't wake up?"

Tony didn't look back but spoke with certainty. "Nat, trust me. He's not going anywhere. He'll wake up."

Natasha's fingers traced patterns on Y/N's hand. "I just hope he'll be able to face what lies ahead."

Day 20: The Integration

Twenty days in, the spine was ready for full integration. Tony stood back, eyes sharp with focus. "This is it," he said, guiding the robotic arms as they began the final step.

The lights flickered on the machines, signaling the delicate fusion of technology and Y/N's biology. Natasha's grip on his hand tightened as his bones shifted slightly, adapting to the presence of the new spine.
