Chapter twelve

"The U.A. sports festival! The huge battle where fledgling heroes sharpen their swords once a year! Anyways, these are the guys, right? The miraculous new stars who overcame enemy attacks with their hearts of steel! Hero course, Class 1-A, right?!" Mike welcomed, as the crowd cheered the class onto the field. The attention caused Aether to become slightly embarrassed, while Lumine could help but want to avoid all of it.

"Great sevens, I officially hate these kinds of events" Lumine sighed, as she kept her gaze forward and away from the roaring crowd.

"Come on Lumine its not that bad, I'll admit such praise is embarrassing but it's not that bad" Aether added, flashing a bright smile towards his sister.

"This come from the guy known as, The honorary Knight of Favonius, Captain of the Watatsumi Island Special Operations, Captain of swordfish II, Hero of Mondstadt, Hero of Liyue, First Sage of Buer, The fourth descender, Master of the Jinni, Golden Nara, Guest of Tenshukaku, The executor of justice, the list goes on brother, would you like me to continue?" Lumine commented, as Aether found he could only answer with an uneasy sigh.

"They haven't been getting as much airtime, but this class is also full of talent! Hero curse, Class 1-B!" Mike continued, as the second class came out from behind 1-A, along with the other classes of general studies, the support course, and the business course. "All of U.A.'s first years are here now!" Mike finished, as each class found a spot to stand in front of a small podium within the arena.

After a disheartening declaration from Bakugou, the hero Midnight started explaining the event. "Now, let's get started right away. The first game is what you'd call a qualifier! Every year, many drink their tears here! Now, here is the fateful first game!" Midnight started, as a large spinning wheel projection appeared above her head, "this year, it's..." The words obstacle race appeared on the projection "...this!" Midnight finished, as she began to explain who the race would work.

"All 11 classes will participate in this race. The course will be the outer circumference of this stadium— about four kilometres! Our school's selling point is freedom! As long as you stay on the course, it doesn't matter what you do! Now, take your places everyone!" Midnight finished, as all the classes began to gather around the starting gate.

-Qualifier round: Obstacle Race-

"Start!"

Everyone immediately began running up against each other as they tried desperately to get in front, causing collisions within the tight space of the starting line, Lumine had managed to get her herself above the crowd, before she got swept up in its force— however Aether wasn't as lucky, he soon found himself moving along with the crowd of people crashing into almost every second person as he was pushed and shoved along. He eventually managed to notice his sister above him with her hand outstretched, struggling to get his arm free, he lifted it above his head managing to lock hands with his sibling as he was pulled up above the crowds.

Suddenly a cold chill filled the narrow corridor, the ground bellow everyone's feet had been frozen over. The twins got out on the other side making an unstable landing on the other side of the ice keeping up with the few students who also managed to escape Todoroki's Icey trap.

"What lucky timing, you got us out of there just in time" Aether cheered, as he took a small leap while running. Lumine, who was behind him let out a small sigh "that was pure luck Aether, I was simply trying to get us out of that crowd"

"Whatever you say sis"

While running Lumine collides with a purple figure that was sent hurling in her direction, the two fell to the ground while Aether immediately skidded to a stop. Lumine could practically hear the boys thoughts as he latched himself onto her.
