I find myself walking through a field of knee high grass and lilies . The wind causes the soft petals of the delicate flowers brush against my skin.
My skin is kissed by the warmth of the sun as I walk towards a large willow tree. As I come closer the smell of lavender wafts my senses. My heart swell at the familiar but distant scent.
Once I walk Uber the cool shade of the tree a soft hum echoes through the air. Curious I strain my ears to listen closer until I make out a song... her song. I round the tree to see a puff of blonde curly hair that's pulled back into a pointy tail. Her soft olive skin glows brightly as she lays against the trunk of the tree.
Her long eyes lashes flutters open revealing cool sea foam green eyes.
My legs nearly give out as a gentle smile spreads across her face when she sees me.
"Hello lover" she says. I try to force my mouth open to speak, but every word that I want to say is jumbled together. She tilts her head but her smile doesn't fade. I approach cautiously as if with one wrong step she would disappear before my eyes. Once I'm in arms length a crouch in front of her, I take a shake hand and caress her cheek, the feel of her soft skin sends warmth up my arm
"Keshi?"
The moment my name leave her lips, my heart finally gives in. All at once I bury my face into her, loud sobs echo around us as she holds me tight.
"Shh, I know" she says.
"Vanessa" I call out. This was the first time I said her name.
"I'm here" she soothes. I allow myself to drown as I take in her signature lavender scent. "Oh god I miss you" I say through my tears.
"I miss you too my love".
"I'm sorry I could save you V. I'm so fucking sorry" I cry. Vanessa pulls away and places a hand under my chin and lifts my head so that my eyes meets hers.
"There is nothing to be sorry for. It wasn't your fault, love." She reassures.
"It's been so hard without you" I confess.
"I know it has baby. But you've made me so proud" she says warmly. Her eyes spark behind tears. "How?" I ask. She shakes her head as she uses her thumbs to wipe away my tears, "You started to love again" she says.
"I can finally move on now" she continues. The thought of her leaving makes me cling to her tighter. "I'm not ready to let you go" I whimper. Vanessa kisses me softly on my forehead before pulling me close to her again. "I'm never going to be too far away my love. We will be together again soon. Until then you need to go back to her."
Her? Her..... "Makayla" I say out loud. She knew about her, she knew that someone else has captured my heart, and she still holds as if I'm still hers. "I will always love you my love" she says.
"Now go back to her" she coaxes.
"Just a minute longer" I say. She nods and we hold each close.

Makayla
Was this what he had to go through? To lay beside the person he loved and still feel like their miles away? To feel be frozen by their warmth as you hope to see even the slightest movement? To wonder if the person will ever open their eyes and gaze upon them for even a second.
It's only been two days since he rescued me from Jamil, but yet it feels like years. I crave to hear his voice, to be under the gaze those dark irises. God I miss him.
"Everyone is waiting on you, you're so mean making us wait this long. Can't you just wake up?" I say to him, but of course I get no response.
I sigh before turning and retrieving the cup I've been using to give him water.
When I turn back around I nearly drop the water up on the both of us.
Staring back at me were those warm dark pools.
