It was later in the night, the people in the house were mostly all asleep except for one. Dak was wide awake, not even trying to sleep. He was watching his sister sleep, she had a nightmare about Gunnar and Dak couldn't sleep. He couldn't think about going to sleep when he couldn't protect his sister. It was his fault she had the nightmare, it was his fault they met Gunnar if he worked harder to protect her it would've never happened. It was his own responsibility to protect her and the others. Dak sat wide awake for hours, until he saw the sun start rising.

The sun had just started rising, Leyla woke up and rolled to see Dak. He was wide awake resting his head on the wall. "Dak?" Leyla asks, sitting up.

"Oh, Ley." Dak says, looking at her.

"How long have you been up?" Leyla asks the boy.

"Not very long." Dak answers, "Just a few minutes." Leyla stands up from the bed and walks over to her brother. Sitting down on the bed with him, the red haired boy's eyes were bloodshot from being awake.

"Dak really?" Leyla asks.

"Yes, Leyla I'm fine." Dak responds.

"Okay Dak." Leyla mutters, Leyla leans her head on the wall next to her brother's. The two of them sat like that for a while before hearing a knock on the door.

"Are you two awake?" Mala asks through the door.

"Yeah." Leyla responds, Mala opens the door to see the two twins.

"Hi." Dak greets.

"Breakfast is done if either of you are hungry." Mala tells the two.

"Okay." Dak mutters.

"Thank you." Leyla tells the women, the girl stands from the bed pulling her twin up in the process. The two twins follow the women to the kitchen sitting down at the table.

Mala walks out of the room towards her and Dagur's bedroom. Sitting on the dresser was a notebook, the notebook she lost years ago when the twins were taken. Mala grabs it and walks back out towards the twins, she sets the notebook on the table in front of the kids.

"Hey my dragon diary." Leyla tells her, grabbing it from the table, "How did you get this?"

"We found it when we were searching for you two." Mala responds.

Leyla hugs the book close to her chest before putting it back down on the table, "Thanks."

.....

9 years before

It was morning, Dagur and Dak had gone to visit Heather and Fishlegs leaving Leyla and Mala on the island. Mala was sitting at the table writing in her notebook and Leyla was on the floor next to her. Leyla had stood up randomly and looked towards her mother. "Mum." Mala looked towards her daughter who had her hand us a way of asking to get pulled up. The woman laughed at her daughter and pulled her up into her lap, Leyla looked at the notebook on the table before turning to Mala. "Mum."

"Yes, Miss Leyla." Mala responds, looking her daughter in the eyes.

"I see book?" Leyla asks. Mala reaches onto the table grabbing the notebook off of it handing it to her daughter.

"Be careful with it." Mala tells her, Leyla nods, opening the notebook. The notebook only had writing in the beginning of it and on the first pages were dragon classes. Leyla carefully starts flipping through her mothers notebook looking at the writing on the pages. The sound of a horn interrupts the moment between the two, "Looks like Dad and Dak are back, wanna go meet them?" Leyla nods, and Mala reaches to take the notebook.
