!! Trigger Warning !! Small bullying + violence, eating habits/health
It was just me and Yīkào hugging each other while it was raining; the both of us sat under the bus stop. I still can't get over the fact that he's my friend and that he cares for me; he's too good for me and my life. Especially the way he gave me his coat and how warm I now feel.
"Do you know when my dad will be here, Yīkào?" I looked up at him, my chin on his shoulder.
"I don't exactly know, but I think maybe... 10 minutes? We are quite far away from your house, so do remember that." I lie my head back down and just snuggle up to him more.
Over the years, Yīkào has become a lot softer upon me, as in he hugs me more, gives me more gifts, and even at times wants to hold my hand. I'm not complaining; of course, I love it. I love every bit of him.
"Yīkào I- I just wanted to let you know that I am grateful for your presence. So thank you very much. He had stopped typing and tacking away on his phone to think of a reply for me, and I waited for a sweet reply back.
"It's nothing, and I should be thanking you instead; you're able to put up with my dark humour, and I really... appreciate it." Yīkào looked down at me and smiled weakly. I smiled back at him.
Everything felt like it was going perfectly, and there wasn't a moment in my mind where I thought everything was going to go bad. I wasn't worried about school, and I wasn't worried about my bullies; furthermore, it just felt like I was on cloud nine with Yīkào sitting next to me.
Sadly, it was soon to end.
I recognised a voice that was echoing down the road; I could not quite recognise it, but I felt that Yīkào did recognise the said voice. He grabbed me by the waist, picked me up, and put me on the other side of him as a way to protect me. But from what, you may ask? Well, it was one of my bullies. I jinxed myself too soon and put the coat hood over my head to try and hide myself more.
"Don't be scared. I won't let those pricks touch you, and if they dare think about it, I will drag their heads through the concrete until their flesh starts peeling away."
"T-Thanks..."
I kept quiet and waited for them to pass and not see Yīkào under the bus stop and a now-covered person. Yet with him staring them down, it would be hard for them not to recognise him, which sadly he did spot...
Yīkào tried to ignore them and stay quiet, yet I could tell it was going to be hard considering his temper was very low when it came to people being mean to me. I instinctively shrank against the metal bench, a pitiful attempt at camouflage. "They're just messing around," I told myself, but it didn't help douse the rising dread.
Yīkào stood beside me, his expression unfaltering. "You want me to deal with them?" he asked, a hint of danger in his voice.
"No! They might..." My warning fell flat as they approached us, cockiness dripping over their already-drenched uniform like spilt ink.
"Hey, Yīkào, you're not going to jump in and protect your little boyfriend, are you?" he taunted, my heart pounding wildly like a trapped butterfly.
"Let's leave him alone. He won't fight back. You know that", Yīkào replied, cool and collected, but something in his voice hinted at gathering storm clouds like the current weather.
But the bully took one more step forward, and that was the line crossed: "What's the matter, Yīkào? Afraid I'll hurt your fag?" and also that comment...
The transformation in Yīkào was frightening yet strangely hot. Something flickered behind his motionless eyes—something primal that shattered the calm façade like glass. He didn't just step in front of me; he towered over the bullies, and for a second, I forgot my fears.
