I rub my eyes a little after walking out of class. I've been particularly tired and stressed the last few days because Leo commented on me being useless again so my anxiety and intrusive thoughts wondering if I'm good enough have been at an all time high. "Hey y/n are you okay?" I turn towards Kaito's voice and nod giving a small forced smile. "That smile doesn't seem genuine. Oh wait I read girls don't like it when guys are super pushy. Does this count as pushy," Kaito whispers the last few sentences but I still hear them. I can't help but feel more at ease with him around. Kaito looks back at me and puts his hand to the back of his neck before speaking, "must've been my imagination. Though if you're ever not okay you can talk to me okay?" "Alright thank you Kaito." I briefly wonder if I should tell him what's going on since I know he genuinely cares about me but decide against it. I'm especially glad that I didn't tell him when I see Leo standing nearby with what looks like either a judging or cold look that he's giving me.

"Hey Honor Roll I need to borrow you for a minute," Leo says in a sickeningly sweet voice. "What is it," I ask not moving any closer to him with Kaito staying by my side after moving close enough for him to put his arm on my head like I'm an armrest. "First off why do you hang with a loser like him?" "Kaito's not a loser. Also don't you remember what happened with Luca the last time you called him that," I immediately reply. Leo just rolls his eyes before blowing a bubble with his gum and replying, "whatever, now I need you to come with me for what I need." "Say what you want about me but like hell I'm letting y/n go anywhere alone with you!" Kaito without hesitation grabs my hand and pulls me down another hallway far from Leo. Once we've walked for a few minutes Kaito stops and let's go of my hand. "I'm so sorry! I didn't want you being alone with him even slightly and I saw that once you saw him you tensed up and were shaking a little so I decided to get you the hell out of there without thinking about it. Are you okay? Did I pull you too hard," Kaito shouts all in one breath.

"I'm fine. Actually you told me to tell you if anything wasn't okay right?" Kaito nods looking at me with concern. I tell him about what happened after my first mission with Vagastrom and how I've been anxious since. "About three or so days ago Leo told me to come to Vagastrom which I did and I don't remember how the conversation got to this point but he said, "you're still just following us ghouls around hoping for some protection and being completely useless on every mission huh?" I could feel my eyes watering with tears and Kaito gently rubbed the tears away. "I tried reasoning with him and telling him about the missions I've gone on since then but he literally walked away." "That asshole! Don't worry y/n you're far from useless!" Kaito pulls out his phone and grabs my hand leading me somewhere. "Kaito where are we going?" "To see Professor Nickolas. You're clearly stressed and I have an idea but we need to leave Darkwick. Plus he's most likely going to be the easiest to talk too."

I nod and just let him lead me to Professor Nickolas' classroom. Kaito knocks on the door before leading us inside after seeing the room is empty. "What can I do for you two?" "Do you want to tell him everything," Kaito asks. I debate internally a little before deciding to tell him most of what happened leaving out that it was Leo who said all of this. "I see. I'm sorry you were going through that and I didn't know anything about it. However, may I ask what seems to have made you change your mind about telling me? This seems to have been going on for a while after all." Kaito tells him what happened before we came here. "So since y/n's super stressed I wanted to take her into town and go get some crepes and maybe hit up some other places but we'd need permission to leave Darkwick and get the R&R permits but I don't think Jin would help to much and I'd greatly prefer not dealing with Tohma. Plus since you're one of the doctors here I thought maybe you could help figure out a way to lighten things for y/n."

Professor Nickolas nods before writing something down. "Alright why don't you go talk with Ishibashi? I know you said you don't want too but give him this note and I'll see what I can do for y/n by talking with the chancellor." "Thank you both so very much." "You're welcome," Professor Nickolas responds as we walk out. "Is there anywhere you want to go specifically?" "I'd like to go check up on my home and family if possible but other than that no." "Alright for now why don't you go back to your dorm and relax and I'll pick you up in a couple hours if it all works out?" I nod and smile as I walk back towards my dorm. I decide to change out of my school uniform and put on some more casual clothes. As I'm deciding on what to wear I realize that this could technically be a date and I can't help but feel myself blush. "Going on a date with Kaito wouldn't be so bad actually. He's super sweet and definitely wants the best for me. He's pretty handsome too. Now that I think about it I'm pretty sure he has a crush on me so maybe I should ask him out tonight." I decide to take a shower so that I can really put effort into looking my best tonight.
