C/N POV
It's the holiday break, and it's a good thing her teacher didn't give any homework to do, because all C/N is going to do is eat out and go hang with friends. Her body demands a rest and she's going to give in, because for the first time, she's happy with herself and (surprisingly) her parents.
C/N wakes up one Saturday morning, groaning at the light from her window. Rubbing her eyes, she shoves the dark velvet drapes into a close, hoping to take away the remaining light in order to go back asleep. Her body protests, because it's so used to waking up early to work.
Half an hour passes, and after tossing and turning for what seemed forever, C/N gets up grumpily and goes to brush her teeth. Her mom calls her down to help with breakfast: crepes and bacon.
While eating, C/N checks off a list of all new books she'll need for Term 2, most of them she already has, but there are some which she needs. C/N decides to do a big shopping spree later in the break instead of current, because she's meeting Kip today.
They're picking out a puppy for her.
Y/N (3rd) POV
Out of all the days that can spoil, it's this one. Then again, her days have been spoiled worse, so, this isn't all that bad. Dark purple sunlight flooded in front of her, though it was the morning.
The glass lay broken at her feet, and Y/N gingerly picked up a piece. This wasn't entirely her fault, it was old and sure to break any one of these days.
Yeah, but it still hurts. Whether that's from the pain of cutting her finger just now, or from the memories just lost.
It looked like sea glass now. She ponders.
Of course it's her favourite mug, and of course it just turns out to be a rainy day and her mood is just affect by the blues.
Oh well.
...
Y/N's phone calls, and it's set to a ridiculous bird ringtone, because for one, people don't call her. And two, she just finds it funny. Hilariously funny, if she may add.
She ignores it, and she can always check missed calls later, so right now she'll just need to put the (sea)glass in the yellow garbage can.
"Which trash can does it go into...?" Y/N mutters, clearly unhappy with herself. Honestly, you'd think in her dreams she'd be smarter.
"Did someone call you?" Yumi calls from upstairs, seemingly to have heard the ringtone.
Her voice seems underwater, so far away.
"Yeah," Y/N says, "weird huh?" and continues cleaning up. "Wait." She says, recalling something. "Wait!" She says again.
"What?" Yumi asks, an eeny bit annoyed. "Say it!"
Her voice rings in Y/N's head, an echo somewhere that she's heard before. Y/N ignores it.
"I got to check who it was!"
"Get to it then!"
Her world spirals and...
...
She wakes up, in the comfort of her own bed. Well, I guess you can't really count it as 'comfortable' when poor Y/N broke into sobs.
Not a single person around her knows how it's like, for your heart to be broken into pieces, fixed, and put a large wall around. Only to get broken again.
Between sobs, Y/N says, "At least my favourite mug didn't actually break." Why do you look positively in everything?
After what was about 30 seconds of feeling bad for herself, Y/N wipes away her tears and decides that this day was over and she better go back to sleep.
But, the thought of seeing Yumi in her dreams–or nightmares–scared her into awareness, that she was actually dumb.
Now, I suppose you'd like an update, if you remember from Part two: prologue. No? You sadden me. Yumi was Y/N's closest friend during her grade 8-9 year, and many considered they dated a bit too. Well, if you ask me, I don't think Y/N thought much of it.
They fell out in the next half-year, and didn't really talk after. Yes, Y/N did live with her a while, but to be honest, maybe that was too uncomfortable...
But then, Y/N found out that Yumi had a girlfriend, who she was very happy with, and though she tried to hide it, her heart had been broken again. Even later all the precautions she trained herself to hide, even after she was sure that Yumi would be her best.
Back to the story.
Picking herself up, Y/N made herself a cuppa coffee, with [favourite milk] and [sweetener of your choice]. Coffee machines tend to like to buzz loudly when she's around, Y/N doesn't know why though. The coffee warmed her cold and shaking hands, and woke her slightly. From the bitter taste and heat, she could practically hear her throat calling for mercy, especially since it's used to cold drinks and leftover foods (she never had time to make an extravagant dinner and used most of the time to study).
Another thing, it was indeed actually raining outside, which made her want to go outside more. It's hard to breathe inside. She gave in.
After getting into her favourite [colored] jacket, Y/N took an umbrella and headed outside.
The fresh scent of wet grass and mud calmed her nerves and she took a deep breath in. Her lungs seemed to sigh as her stressed posture seemed to leave her temporarily. You can almost hear all the bones cracking in her body at once (kidding). Her headache dimmed and she could think properly again.
When she got back home, Y/N sat down on her desk and began to write in her journal. She wrote about all the things that happened since the last entry (half a year ago) and about all the good, bad, and mildly annoying parts. Once, she debated on whether to put her secrets in writing, but has since lost that mindless argument and wrote down the things she feels.
Because it is the holiday break, another thing Y/N can finally do is do part-time jobs and volunteering. The local shelter reviewed her application a month ago and offered her a "full-time" job there just for the break, and then after she'd get to choose if she wants to keep on with it. After realizing this, she grinned and packed her bag.
Y/N's day went from bad to great in just under 3 hours, what a girl.

C/N never thought she ever see this much puppies, even though she was more of a bird person herself, she's happy that Kip is overjoyed with the amount of options.
The employee was kind enough to let Kip into the room so she could see for herself which she wanted. But, C/N was forced to wait outside and had to stare through the glass door.
Y/N never thought she'd be this happy again, not since that fiasco with Yumi and C/N. But stepping into that store, she felt at peace and fulfillment, as if all her adventures had led to there. Or maybe she was being a bit spiritual and just wanted that peaceful feeling to mean something in the long run.
C/N knew that voice, she hears it in her nightmares and dreams, distant snippets of talk that her consciousness remembers. She knows that laugh, and how much she'd do to hear it one more time.
Y/N can identify that grin from five (WHATS A KILOMETER??? 🦅🦅/j) miles away, and now she's standing right beside that special grin, holding a clipboard and smiling like an idiot.
C/N turns, the employee was talking to that person from her dreams, the one who made her want to smile forever.
"Y/N!" "C/N!"
A/N:
AAAAHHH! We made it! Epilogue in the making, but for now, bye bye <333
