" I put up a fight, taking out my earrings.
Don't you know the vibe? Don't you know the feeling."

"he's not here." Jessica stated randomly. I opened my eyes to peek at the two girls next to me. "whenever the weathers nice, the Cullens disappear."

"what, do they just ditch?" Bella wondered. I closed my eyes again, not caring about the conversation. Jasper had already mentioned that he was going to be absent last night over text.

"no, Dr. and Mrs. Cullen yank them out for like, hiking and camping and stuff." Jessica explained. "I tried that out on my parents, not even close."

"guys!" Angela squealed. I opened my eyes quickly and shot up at the sudden interruption. "oops sorry." she apologized sheepishly, noticing my flinch. "but guess who's going to the dance with Eric this weekend?"

"oh no way!" I clapped my hands together excitedly. I wasn't actually surprised by this information. Eric had asked me today before lunch, but I told him it would be better if he went with Angela instead. Her crush on him wasn't exactly a secret, and seeing as she's my best friend, I wanted them to go together. "that's so exciting!"

"that's great, Angela." Bella added as enthusiastically as she could. I watched with a small smile as they hugged each other awkwardly. "I told you he'd say yes."

"are you sure you guys have to go out of town?" Angela frowned.

"yeah, it's a little, family thing." Bella's eyes flickered to mine and I couldn't help but grin. Maybe she was just stating the first excuse that came to mind, but a part of me was happy to be included as her 'family'. She grew on me just like Charlie did, and I couldn't imagine living life without either of them.

"yeah, next time though." I promised.

Angela raised her brows. "so you'll be there at prom?"

"um.." thankfully the bell rang before I could sink myself further into that hole.

"i'll pick you two up after school! We need to go to Port Angeles before all the good dresses run out." Jessica yelled out as we parted ways.
