Oscar woke feeling a little like he overslept. He sat up in bed and rubbed his eyes before stretching his arms above his head, feeling the satisfying release as his back cracked. The warmth from the roaring fireplace enveloped the chamber, casting a flickering glow on the walls. As he glanced out the window, he saw the grey clouds of the Riverlands in the distance, their sombre hue contrasting with the cosy interior. The room was dimly lit, and for a moment, he thought he had overslept and it was already dark outside. Then he remembered it was midwinter night, a time when the sun barely graced the horizon. With a contented yawn, he embraced the peaceful stillness of the midwinter night.
"Uh!" Y/n gasped, "You're awake!" She cheered rushing across the chamber from her little window seat and jumping onto the bed with him pulling Oscar into a hug, "Good Morning My love!"
Oscar chuckled and he wrapped his arms around her. "Good morning my darling." He pulled her closer and held onto her for a few more moments before speaking again. "I didn't even hear you wake up. How long have you been sitting in that window seat?"
"Only a couple of hours," she said wide-eyed and innocent like a little girl thinking she was in trouble,
Oscar chuckled at her. Knowing her, she was probably telling the truth, but he had a hard time believing it was just a couple of hours. "A couple of hours huh? That's a pretty long time darling."
"I didn't want to wake you," she said, "You were sleeping so peacefully,"
"You should have. I could have given you my warmth instead of you sitting by that window all alone in the cold."
"I didn't want to bother you while you were sleeping. Me and Jr had lots of fun." she happily smiled running her hands over the tiny excuse for a baby bump,
He couldn't hide the look of joy on his face when her hands went to her stomach. They both knew it was too early for her to be showing, but still, he felt just as excited as her and even the tiniest hit of a bump made them both giddy. He put his hands over hers. His fingers gently ran over the non-existent bump. He chuckled softly, shaking his head. "You and 'Junior' huh?"
she nodded excitedly, "Ooh! I almost forgot!" she then jumps out of bed and scurries away,
Oscar sighed and chuckled again as he watched her scramble off the bed. He missed the feeling of having her in his arms as soon as she was gone, but he was a patient man. "Remind me again, what did you forget?"
"You're present!" she called back as she ran back with a cute little wrapped box in hand, "For midwinter night," She smiled,
Oscar smiled softly and took the box carefully from her, sitting it down in his lap. He reached out and took her chin in his hand for a moment, giving her a soft kiss before he looked down at the little box. He turned his attention back to her for a moment. "You know you didn't have to get me anything, darling."
"I know, but I wanted too," she giggled
Oscar chuckled. He glanced down at the box again, a small bit of hesitation in his expression. It wasn't like he didn't want to open it. But he would have probably been just as happy to spend the entire day with her and get nothing at all. He was a little curious about what she had gotten him though. That curiosity won out and he carefully started undoing the strings.
Once it was open it revealed a beautiful blanket of their family colours with sweet embroided squares of fish and waves like the tully heraldry, "Do you like it?" she asked carefully
Oscar smiled. He carefully took the blanket out of the box, gently running his hands over it, trying to take in just how soft the fabric was. He glanced over at her, the blanket still in his lap. "Darling, it's absolutely lovely!"
she smiled "it took me weeks to make," she softly giggled
"You- You made it? All by yourself just for me?" He chuckled, wrapping the blanket around her and using it to pull her closer so he could kiss her forehead. His arms wrapped around her, underneath the blanket, and held her tightly against him. A large part of him was a bit nervous to actually use the blanket because he didn't want to ruin the thing, but he figured he might be able to compromise on that.
she nodded, "I wanted to make it for you, your always saying your cold so I wanted to make you a nice soft blanket"
He held her tighter and chuckled, gently nuzzling the side of her head affectionately. "Gods, my darling. You are going to spoil me far too much." He pulled her even closer if that was possible, his chin resting lightly on top of her head and his face buried in her hair. The blanket still wrapped around both of them, Oscar was almost certain he had never felt more comfortable in his entire life as he was in that exact moment. "I can never say my sweet wife does not know me." He pulled his head back, and moved a hand to her chin, lifting her head so he could see her face, his fingers gently tracing over her jaw. He leaned forward and kissed her nose softly, smiling at her, "Thank you, my love. It's... The best present I've ever gotten."
"You're welcome Oscar," she smiled, "I had to spoil you, after all you gave me my best present ever too," She smiled resting her hand on her little bump again
He smiled as he saw her hand go to her stomach, and he let his hand fall to hers. He moved his fingers under her shirt, gently touching her stomach. "We're going to spoiling each other quite a lot in the coming years, aren't we?"
"Most definitely," she smiled nuzzling closer into his neck,
