The morning sun streamed through the cracked blinds of the Chateau, casting soft rays over Olivia as she stirred awake.. She stretched lazily, her eyes catching JJ's sprawled-out form beside her, fast asleep. They'd both crashed after the long night, and she could feel the aftermath of the drinks settling into her bones.
She slipped out of bed quietly, not wanting to wake JJ, and walked toward the window. Through the small gaps, she could see the ocean waves, larger and more tempting than usual. Her heart raced a little at the thought of surfing; it had been a while since she'd felt that adrenaline.
Turning back to JJ, she nudged him gently. "Wake up, sleepyhead. We're hitting the waves today."
JJ grumbled, rubbing his eyes before he groaned in agreement. "Hell yeah, let's call the others. Waves like this don't wait." And he went to wake John b up.
With a few taps on her phone, Olivia sent messages to Kiara, Pope, and Sarah, asking them to join. She told Sarah to bring her a bikini, since she slept in JJ's shirt. Soon, the group had rallied, grabbing their boards and heading out toward the beach.
By the time they arrived, the sun had fully risen, and the heat was just starting to bake the sand beneath their feet. The water shimmered, practically begging them to dive in. Sarah greeted them with a smile, eyes fixed on the ocean. Kiara and Pope were already chatting and laughing as they unloaded their gear, Olivia didn't miss the way JJ was looking at them, he was jealous.
She gave him a nudge. "Hey what's that about".
"What" He frowned at her.
"You know what" she continued. "I see how you look at her Jay, at them".
But JJ kept defending himself. "I have no idea what you're talking about Olie"
Just as she was about to respond, John b called him, and he ran over to him.
"Keep being in denial" She shouted after him.
But then, just as Olivia's board hit the sand, her gaze drifted further down the beach. A group of familiar faces strolled up—Topper, Kelce... Zoey and Rafe, along with two random girls she didn't really recognize. Olivia's breath caught for a second, her heart doing that strange thing it always did when he was around.
Sarah saw them too. "Of course, they're here," she muttered under her breath.
Topper was the first to speak, his usual condescending smirk plastered on his face. "Look who decided to join us. The Pogues."
Kiara shot back almost immediately, a sharp remark about Topper's uselessness, but Olivia barely heard it. Her eyes were locked on Rafe, who, as if feeling her gaze, turned toward her. Their eyes met—just for a moment, a stolen glance that said more than words could. She quickly looked away, her heart racing.
She decided to ignore them, or him, and focus on the ocean. Olivia's excitement bubbled up. Surfing had always been her thing—a way to let go of everything else. She didn't care about anything when she was on the waves, only the rhythm of the ocean. As she paddled out, the salty breeze whipped her hair back, her eyes scanning the horizon for the perfect wave.
