Y/n's pov
I had just put the headset on, and in the blink of an eye, I found myself somewhere completely unfamiliar. I couldn't see anything yet, but I could feel... absence. It was like floating in an endless space where there should have been ground beneath me, but there wasn't. My instincts screamed at me to keep my eyes shut. There was a pressure in the air, a kind of weightlessness, and a blinding light that pierced through my closed eyelids. Even without seeing, I knew that whatever surrounded me wasn’t natural—it was too bright, too overwhelming, and too empty. The nothingness wrapped around me, thick and cold, and I couldn’t help but feel like if I opened my eyes, I might see something I wasn’t ready for.
After what felt like an eternity, though it was probably just a few minutes, I started to hear music. It was soft at first, barely there, but it quickly grew louder, filling the emptiness with a strangely familiar tune. A circus-themed melody, playful and unnervingly cheery, like something straight out of a childhood memory you couldn’t quite place.
Then, there was a voice. A childlike, sing-song voice that made my skin crawl in a way that only something too cheerful could. It sang:
“Gangle, and Zooble, and Kinger too.
Ragatha, Jax and there’s Pomni, woo-hoo!
Day after, day after, day after, day after day we fly,
Past the moon and the sun and we don’t know wh—”That’s when my nerves got the better of me, and I opened my eyes, almost regretting it instantly. The brightness faded just enough for me to take in my surroundings—a huge, colorful room, like something out of a cartoon. Everything was vibrant, exaggerated, and bizarrely artificial. The walls were splashed with bright, playful patterns, and the furniture—if you could even call it that—looked straight out of a kid’s drawing, with squiggly lines and wild colors. It felt like I’d stepped into a living cartoon.
But what really caught my attention were the... things. Five, six, seven—I wasn’t sure how many, but there were creatures all around me. They were moving, alive, but they were definitely not human. The sight of them jarred me so much that I let out a small scream before stumbling frontwards, my body crashing into something—or someone.
I toppled over one of them, a short figure with a blue, red, and yellow palette, knocking it down. That one fell into another, and then another, like a bizarre, colorful domino effect, until the entire group was lying on the floor in a chaotic heap. Well, all except one.
Hovering in the air was a creature that looked like a... denture. A giant set of teeth, grinning down at me with a pair of cartoonish eyes floating in it. The sight was unsettling, but before I could react, the flying denture spoke with a strangely smug tone.
“My, my! A new human has entered this realm already?”
I barely had time to process what was happening when another voice chimed in, sounding irritated. “What? But Pomni came here just five days ago! You sure that one’s not one of your NPCs? Cause if it's a new one, we're gonna have to redo this whole theme song again!”
I turned to the source of the voice. It was a tall purple bunny that had just got up from the floor and he had an air of casual confidence. The fact that the rabbit (sorry I don't know if he's a bunny or a rabbit 😭) was speaking so normally only added to my confusion, and I stared, trying to piece together what the hell I had just stepped into.
