Days have passed since Momon, Nabe, and Markov successfully rescued Nfirea and stopped Khajit and Clementine's plan to take over E-Rantel. Due to their overwhelming success, the three had been upgraded to Mithril Rank adventurers. Not the highest, which is Adamantine, but high enough to where most people didn't bother them.
After that first quest, Ainz said he would return to Nazarick to which when asked by Markov if he was allowed to join was turned down. Not due to Ainz not trusting him but more of the other inhabitants of Nazarick having a strong disagreement about Markov being allowed within the Great Tomb. So Markov was told that he and Nabe would act as liaisons within the Adventurers Guild and Nabe would report any new findings that would concern Ainz.
At the current moment, Markov and Nabe are sitting in one of the higher-tier lounge areas of the Guild Hall. Markov sipped on wine while Nabe watched the other adventurers go about their business. A visible scowl covered her face as she detested the very idea of having to be near humans.
Markov: "I advise caution. Scowling that much could become permanent."
Nabe: "I do not see the point of being here. These...insects scurry all around us and you appease this?"
Markov: "Of course, I have no love for them. They're despicable and should be wiped away. A cancer that destroys everything around them if given the chance."
Nabe: "So then why are we here?"
Markov: "My, my, for someone so loyal you do question your 'supreme one's' orders quite a lot." Setting down the empty wine glass.
Nabe: "I am ever loyal to my lord. I simply am confused as to why he wishes us to play a part. I should be back at Nazarick with my fellow Pleiades, not here showing myself off to these creatures."
Markov: "He wants us to keep an eye on this end of things. Anything that could be seen as something he needs to know also could boost our reputation. I can take care of that. But I can't contact him, you can." Nabe could only pout slightly as Markov was right.
Nabe: "If you don't mind me asking, why is it you wish to enter Nazarick? You made several attempts to convince Lord Ainz to allow you within its walls. What do you wish to find within?"
Markov: "*sigh*...Do you know anything about the guild you were a part of?"
Nabe: "No. My duties were to attend to the needs of the Supreme Beings. Nothing more."
Markov: "Supreme Beings? I'm assuming those are the other members of the original guild I'm taking? From what I can recall there were 41 members within the guild. Rather small for its size but I suppose lesser numbers mean a higher concentration of stronger members."
Nabe: "Indeed. The 41 Supreme Beings. Each one a god that forged the Great Tomb and at the head of such a group was Lord Ainz."
Markov: "Hmm. Do you happen to know if someone by the name of Touch Me is still within your Great Tomb?" Off of that Nabe immediately turned to look toward Markov with a look of surprise and suspicion.
Nabe: "Is he why you seek entrance into Nazarick?"
Markov: "Correct. And I'll take it he's still around as I never said whether he was a man or woman."
Nabe: "....No. There is only Lord Ainz. When we first awoke in this world we learned that the other 40 Supreme Beings had left us but Lord Ainz chose to stay."
Markov: "Shame."
Nabe: "What business could you have with-"
Markov: "Hush, we have company." Markov gestured to the young woman who acted as the guild's receptionist and approached the two.
Receptionist: "Pardon my interruption, do you two happen to be companions of the adventurer Momon?"
Markov: "Perhaps, what do you want?"
Receptionist: "I have a letter from the master of this Adventurer's Guild, Lord Ainzach. If you could please relay it to him Lord Ainzach would be most appreciated." She hands a small envelope to Markov who half-hazardly scantches it from her hand and passes it to Nabe.
Markov: "You can go now." The receptionist bows before turning to leave. "Well, your turn." Nabe only rolls her eyes as she stands up and leaves the adventurers' guild to inform Ainz of the notice. Leaving Markov to sip on the glass of wine he acquired.
A few hours later Momon followed by Nabe re-enter the adventurer's guild. Momon and Markov share a nod before Momon makes his way to the second floor of the building up to what could be a conference room. Nabe makes her way back over and sits.
Markov: "So what seems to be the problem?"
Nabe: "The Adventurer's Guild requires assistance with dealing with a vampire that attacked a group of adventurers."
Markov: "Well at least I'm not the only vampire in this world."
The two awaited the return of Momon. Soon Momon steps down the stairs which Markov and Nabe ride to their feet and follow behind Momon as the group leaves the Guild Hall.
Markov: "So what did they want?"
Momon: "We are to deal with a rouge vampire that attacked a group of adventurers outside the city."
Nabe: "When shall we depart?"
Momon: "We will need Nazarick's support for this mission as it pertains to Shalltear."
Nabe: "Of course."
Markov: "What, this Shalltear a problem? Too strong for you to take on?"
Momon: "Perhaps. But this a problem for me to handle. I do not wish for you to participate. I need you to stay within E-Rantel and ensure that any jobs that they want our group to do are taken care of." This caused a scowl to form on Markov's face. But he sighed as he didn't want to get into an argument and say something that may blow their cover.
Markov: "...Very well."
Momon: "Thank you. I know it may seem unfair but you have no clue how powerful Shalltear is. And I don't want you to end up dying."
The group diverts as Momon and Nabe leave Markov behind but Markov simply steps into the shadows of an alley and disappears.
Markov(mental): "Like hell am I going to be sidelined."
