Doctor's P.O.V

"So I think the Tardis saved us," River tells me when I walk back into the main room. "Clara has a defense system much like the Tardis. I think the electrical current triggered a reaction from the Tardis inside Clara, which protected us and sent us back aboard. And I don't think you need to worry about Clara. She's shut down and recharging as we speak. That blast must have taken a lot out of her." I grin happily.

"That's great news! How did you figure all this out?"

"Well I realized that when I tried to send her memories of Trenzalore to her, her mind tried to fight back the first few seconds before it recognized that I wasn't a threat. The Tardis is apart of me also which is why it let me through. But if I was a threat she would have fried my brain." My smile slowly slips off my face.

"You showed her Trenzalore?" River also stops smiling.

"Yes. Very peculiar how she didn't remember it." I grimmly walk by her. I didn't want her to remember.

"Doctor-"

"River drop it." I turn angrily to face her. She sighs in defeat.

"I don't want to spend our time together squabbling like an old married couple," she complains.

"Well that's what we are right? So it's normal."

"Do you love her?" She blurts out, wincing. I stare at her. My mouth is open but nothing comes out. I didn't expect to face this question from myself much less my dead wife.

"River..."

"Just answer my question." But she already knows the answer. Do I really have to say it?

"Excuse me." I look down beside me into a pair of ravishing blue eyes. "Is Clara going to be okay?" I kneel down in front of her and take her hands into mine.

"She is going to be just fine. What's your name?"

"Daisy."

"Daisy," I repeat. "That's a pretty name. Did your mum name you that?"

"I'm not quite sure." I look up at River for confirmation and I'm taken back by her tear streaked face. Silently she nods yes then walks away from us. I want to pull her back and kiss away her tears. Instead I turn back to Daisy who is frowning.

"I don't like her." I gasp. What child doesn't love her mother? Then I remember Daisy didn't grow up around her mother.

"You'll warm up to her. I promise. You are like her in many ways."

"If she was the mother of my dreams I'd be flattered." She rolls her eyes.

"I'm sorry I couldn't... be there for you. But you're here now and I promise I'll take care of you. We're going to have so much fun traveling through time and space. We'll go anywhere and everywhere!" By the end of my sentence I was excited. I can do this. I can take my little girl and run. Show her the world, show her wonders she couldn't even imagine. But Dasiy gave me a look that made my excitement falter. "What is it Daisy? What's wrong?"
The Tardis shakes, violently knocking both of us to the floor.
What in the world?

I'm on my feet in a heart beat and at the Tardis console, but River beat me to it. She flips a lever and pulls down the screen. Whatever she's watching must be troublesome enough to make River gasp. I'm immediately worried.

"Oh dear."

"River what is it?" She slids the screen to me and my eyes widen. I grip the sides of the screen so tight I might break it. On it shows a huge black twisting mass where the black planet previously was.
A black hole. Oh dear indeed.

Voting is very much appreciated. Especially since I want to enter this into the Watty Awards! #surprise
