Chapter 21

Beau's POV

It was the next day I stood next to my brother, T-dog, Glenn, Maggie, Rick and Alli as we were about to enter the courtyard. I had my hunting knife  and arrows ready as Alli had her knife and ax ready. We all stood by one another as Rick opened the gate. We took down walkers one by one as they came at us, "Stay tight!" Alli yelled at she killed a walker. We did that when T-dog ran over to grab a riot shield which he only knocked the walker down, "Don't break ranks!" Rick yelled. "We need it!" T-dog yelled running back. I grabbed Alli's spare knife and threw it at the walker's skull. Alli looked up at me with the fuck look, "I'll get it later." I said. "That was my favorite knife." Alli said. I shook my head at my girlfriend.

"Shit." Alli and Rick said. Rick was looking at the open gate with a whole lot of walkers. I looked to where Alli was to see a couple walkers in riot gear. Glenn and I stepped forward to go after the two when Alli and Maggie grabbed us as two more popped out.

We tried to fight them off the best we could while Rick tried to close the gate, "Beau!" Rick yelled as Daryl was busy helping Alli. I ran over to him with the clips out tossing them to him. I helped him close the gate and held it closed as here clipped it, "We're good." He said. I let go and backed up.

We turned in time to see Daryl struggling with a walker when Alli jammed her knife into the walker's chin killing it. Everyone soon followed my brother and girlfriend's lead. I ran over tilting the head of a walker from behind stabbing it. I saw Daryl stabbed the final one. Alli ran over to me which I thought she was going for a hug when she kicked a walker back Rick catching it holding it chin up as Alli stab the walker. My brother stood next to me 'That was hot.' I thought. "Thank babe." Alli said. Rick looked at me like what the fuck, "Wipe that drool from you lip." Daryl said.

We looked around a bunch of dead prisoners and a, "What is it?" Alli asked. "This is a civilian." I said. Glenn went to go let the rest of the group in, "Stop!" Alli said. Glenn looked at her, "It looks secure." Glenn said as he looked around. "Not from the look of that courtyard." I said pointing at the gate Rick and I just closed. "And that's a civilian." "If a civilian can get inside the prison..." Alli said. "The interior could be overrun from walkers outside the prison." Rick stated not wanting to admit it. "Well if there's walls down what are we gonna do? We can't rebuilding this whole place." Glenn spoke up. "If there's a bling spot we can't risk it surely we'll have to push in." Rick said. We let out an exhausted sigh, "It'll be worth it in the long run." Alli said.

We nodded and followed the father daughter duo. Daryl opened the door as Rick was ready to kill a walker if one decided to come after him but all we saw was darkness. We walked inside slowly looking around. I went up to the cell block tower and found some keys. I whistled which Daryl looked at me as I held keys up, "Look what I found." I said. Rick looked at me chuckling, "Toss 'em here." Rick said. I tossed them to him as I came down the stairs.

Rick unlocked the door as we went inside clearing the cell block. Alli found a decently cleaned cell but cringed at the mattress with blood on it. I looked at the top one and it was just as bad, "I am going get everyone." Alli said. I nodded and I looked around, "Hey Daryl help me quick." I said. He walked over, "With what?" He asked. "Make this nicer so Alli will actually be comfortable." He nodded and help me fold the bunks up, "Man this girl has you whipped." "I love her Daryl." "I know you do."

We grabbed the mattresses a couple cells down and carried them to mine and Alli's cell creating a bigger bed, "She better like this cause if not I am kicking your ass." Daryl said. "Why not her's?" I asked. "I like her more than you right now." I laughed at my brother. I tipped the bunk's up so we don't hit our heads.

"What's this?" Alli asked. "Our room and a better bed." I said. She walked over her hands on my face, "I love you." She said. "I love you." I said. We made our bed more also Alli hung up a towel for privacy. We got cleaned up a bit then went to bed. Alli fell asleep as I started to doze off when the curtain opened slightly and I saw Rick smiling at the two of us. He stepped in, "Keep her safe." He said. "Always." He crouched down pulling the blanket up more on Alli then kissed her head, "Love you Bear." He walked out and shut the towel on his way out. I soon fell asleep with my girlfriend in my arms.
