𝐽𝑂𝐿𝐸𝑁𝐸 𝑊𝐴𝑆 𝐵𝐸𝐼𝑁𝐺 𝐷𝑅𝐼𝑉𝐸𝑁 to school by her father, Mick, who was actually having quite a good day for a change. He had stayed sober last night, which was something new, so he wasn't hungover. He had this whole plan for the day: he was going to go grocery shopping and get a new job. That doesn't sound like a lot for a grown man, but for Mick and his weakness with alcohol, it was huge. Not that long ago, Mick was fired from the garage for showing up to work drunk, so he needed a new one.

Jolene usually did all the grocery shopping and had made amends with his old boss more times than she could count, but that was the last straw. However, Mick was feeling good about himself. He was going to go grocery shopping and Jolene couldn't be happier for him.

They drove up to the school in their old, second-generation, red Thunderbird that Mick had fixed up when he was a teenager. He was always handy, enjoyed fixing cars. He was currently working on an '84 Camaro that Jolene was going to get when he was finished. Jolene undid her seat belt when they stopped and looked over at her dad. "You're gonna be okay today?"

"I'm a grown man, I'll be okay." Mick never liked the fact that his daughter had become too good at looking after him, parental even. He was grateful that she wasn't mad at him or was neglecting him because of the way he acts, but Mick wanted to be the adult in the house, not Jolene. He had to get rid of his habit first. That was a lot easier said than done.

"You promise you won't go to the bar?"

Mick put his hand to his heart and held the other to the sky. "I solemnly swear on the Back to the Future movies that I will not go to the bar."

"Damn, you're serious." Jolene got her love of movies from her father, only the genre changed. While Jolene was a huge fan of horror in every form, Mick's interest resided in 80s and 90s classics, which involved some horror. From Back to the Future to Scream, Ferris Bueller's Day Off to Mighty Ducks, Breakfast Club and Dead Poets Society. The Dalton household was filled with movie posters, memorabilia, and an atmosphere filled with the love for cinema.
