Sunwoo picked up SengChanh for their classes, as he did every day. "What are your plans for tonight?" he asked, glancing over at her as he drove."I don't know. We have practice tonight, did you forget?" she replied, noticing the way he suddenly slammed on the brakes.
"You're lying..." he groaned, resting his forehead on the steering wheel. "I was supposed to go to a party tonight."
"Boohoo, you'll be fine," she said, trying to stifle a laugh. "Most of your friends will be at dance practice anyway. Why don't you all just go together afterwards?"
Sunwoo lifted his head, a glimmer of hope in his eyes. "You think they'd be up for it?"
"Why not? It'll be a fun way to unwind after practice," she suggested, smiling.
"Alright, you might be onto something," he conceded, a grin breaking through his earlier disappointment. "But if i go you go....no way you're spending a friday night cooped up in your bedroom"
"Deal," SengChanh said taking sunwoo off guard
Sunwoo's grin widened as he pulled back onto the road, clearly excited by the prospect. "That's more like the Jeong Sengchanh i remember "SengChanh couldn't help but smile back, feeling a bit of her earlier stress lift. "Just make sure we actually get through practice first. I don't want to hear you whining about it later." she said getting serious again.
"Yeah, yeah," he waved her off, but his enthusiasm was infectious. "We'll nail practice. Then it's party time."
As they drove to school, the familiar streets filled with chatter and laughter from passing students eased SengChanh's tension a little. She found herself smiling at Sunwoo's antics as he tried to negotiate with his friends over text, trying to convince them to join the practice.
"You know, if you keep texting them like that, they'll think you're desperate," she teased, nudging him playfully.
"Desperate? I'm just persuasive," he shot back, feigning offense. "Besides, I have to make sure I still have a social life outside of dance and soccer."
"persuasive my ass....good luck with that," she laughed, though a small part of her felt a pang of longing. Sunwoo's carefree attitude contrasted sharply with the tension she felt brewing with Jaemin.
When they arrived at school, SengChanh took a deep breath, steeling herself for the day ahead. "Alright, let's just get this over with so we can go to this stupid party you're talking about," she said, more to herself than to Sunwoo.
"You've got this," he encouraged, giving her a reassuring pat on the back. "just think about the party"
She nodded, though her stomach twisted with anticipation. As they walked down the hallway, she could already see the familiar faces of their classmates, some engaged in animated conversations, others just trying to get to their first classes.
