"Oh, you've got to be shitting me..."
.
Simply put, the Sports Festival's second round, which should have been a Calviery Battle, turned into something else. That being a kendo free for all, AKA, a sword fight where only points matter. The objective, if you could call it now, was to steal the opponents' headbands for yourself. But that wasn't all, even if you lost your headband, you were still in. Just be the one with the most amount of points at the end.
Normally, I wouldn't be annoyed at this. But it was the next words out of Midnight's mouth that made me annoyed.
.
"AND NOW FOR THE SPECIAL PART!" Midnight shouted out to the stands and students, "One student will be assigned 10 Million points!" So far so good, I thought, "And the lucky person is! AKASHI SURAIMU!"
.
That was what made me say that. I could tell that Nezu was smiling happily about this.
Note to self, plan some form of payback for this.
Anyway, after that announcement, we were handed headbands with our numbers printed on them. Once I was given my headband, I noticed that it was bright red with black numbers. I looked around and saw that everyone else had white headbands with red numbers on them.
Great, another way to make me stand out.
I sighed and walked over to where we were given our bokken, or wooden sword, while tying the headband around my head. As I retrieved my bokken, I looked around and saw that the other contestants were staring at me. I nodded my head after seeing this.
With a few test swings of my bokken, noticing it was similar to mine in my apartment, I nodded my head before readying myself.
.
"3!... 2!... 1!... FIGHT!"
.
With a burst of speed, one that showed off my movements, I dashed towards a student. As they panicked at my speed, they tried to raise their bokken to block my strike. It was a pity that I was far too accustomed to these types of fights. With a rising slash from my bokken, I shattered his hastily made defense and sent them flying out of the arena while taking their points. He was out.
I ignored the crowd's roar as I made my way toward those that would be easy to get rid of. Unknowingly knocking out a pain in the ass called Monoma after he tried to attack me from behind. From there, I did all that I could to keep my headband from others.
Several students were disqualified for using their quirks but most were just wildly swinging their bokken around like clubs. I, however, was using mine like I was an elegant writer. Each stroke was as beautiful as it was deadly. As I fought, I couldn't help but feel like a pair of eyes digging into my back. It wasn't that hard to guess who the eyes belonged to. It was Momo and Jiro.
They were waiting for me to tire myself out before attacking me. A smart plan if it wasn't for the fact that I'm far from the norm. I just waited, knocking out those who came for my points while keeping an eye out for those who would try to sneak attack me.
The minutes ticked by, and slowly the 30-minute time limit was coming to an end. Thanks to Midnight's urging, the battle became even worse. Students were starting to forgo the bokken and fight with their fists.
I just felt sorry for Recovery Girl. Having to deal with all these kids that hurt themselves and the antic of the principle.
Soon enough, the time limit was up. As a buzzer announced the end, I had just deflected a blow and was about to retaliate. I could see the fear in the student's eyes as my bokken was mere millimeters away from their face.
I took a step back and lowered my bokken. The medic bots quickly swarmed out and started to take care of the wounded students. And soon came the annoyed, elderly form of Recovery Girl, dragging a backpack tank full of a blue liquid.
.
'I see,' I thought as I went over to help her, 'Nezu's planning to reveal the 'Potion' I can make and pass it off as something Recovery Girl made.'
.
As I took the tank from Recovery Girl, she nodded her head and started to order the medic bots to line up from the worst to the least injured. Soon the robots were shuffling around and forming a line. All the while Midnight started to explain what I figured Nezu was doing.
She explained that Nezu and Recovery Girl had made it in tandem. She explained the complicated science behind it in such a way that those who weren't and were smart enough to get confused. I just ignored her and helped Recovery Girl set a bone before spraying a small amount onto the student's arm.
By the time the rest period was over, all the fifty students who participated were fully healed. The crowd was amazed at how well it worked. I, however, just sat down on the ground and waited for the tally to be added up. Soon the points were added and the top eight students were gathered to the stand. Most of the places are filled by Class 1-A, five of them, and the rest of those being from other classes.
I really didn't pay attention to the ones that were placed high enough to pass. I was just tired as this was getting annoying and troublesome. All I knew was that we had the first match as soon as we left the stage.
I had just sat down in one of the waiting rooms when someone barged in. Unsurprisingly, it was Nezu.
.
"I take it you're here to yell at me?" I asked as I sipped a bottle of water.
"Please, a gentleman never yells," He responded, "I would have reprimanded you, however, I think that you showed that you wouldn't care if I did or not. After all, due to things outside of our control, you had to show your skills. Thankfully, you haven't shown all your cards just yet."
"True," I sighed, "But things haven't been as easy as you would have thought. It's hard to hold back so much. I had trouble not breaking any bones of the other students."
"I understand your pain," Nezu spoke in a tone that showed he understood. "Now then, I believe you have a match to get to."
.
I looked at the TV that was showing the match and saw that one of the students, Momo which surprised me, had won after she flash-banged her opponent and threw them out. Seeing as I was next, I went to head off but not before saying goodbye to Nezu.
Only to find him gone without a trace.
Sometimes, that mammal scares me. So much.
Anyway, as I walked out onto the stage, I was met with the roar of the crowd along with my opponent. What surprised me was that it was a kid from Class 1-B who had a similar quirk to Kirishima.
However, he looked constantly pissed rather than Kirirshima's happy-go-luck personality.
.
"Now, for our next match!" Midnight cried out, getting the crowd going, "We have from Class 1-A, Akashi Suraimu!" The crowd cheered my name, "As for his challenger! We have form Class 1-B, Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu!"
.
The crowd was loving it. Or was it the fact that Midnight was showing off her body more and more? I didn't know the answer to that one.
