Christmas

When Caitlin found out she wouldn't be going home to Australia for Christmas, her heart instantly broke. She hadn't seen her family in over 2 years because of the Covid Lockdowns, and now not only was she going to have to wait a 3rd year to see her family, it also meant she was spending Christmas in London Alone. Jordon was going on a family holiday to Europe over Christmas, and Katie was going back home to Ireland to spend Christmas with her family and Ruesha.

When Katie found out the new about Caitlin she immediately invited Caitlin to spend Christmas with her, which Caitlin kindly turned down. Caitlin was still fighting her feelings for Katie, and going on a holiday to spend time with Katie's family and girlfriend was not something she wanted to do. Although Katie didn't take no as an answer and insisted Caitlin came. "Katie seriously I'll be fine, I don't want to intrude your Christmas" Caitlin said for the 100th time, "No Caitlin your coming, I'm not letting you spend Christmas alone, my family love you, and there are so many of us, I could invite the whole team and they probably wouldn't even notice, trust me". Katie said pleading for Caitlin to come with her. Although the real reason Katie wanted Caitlin to come is because her and ruesha had been struggling recently and she couldn't think of anything worse than spending Christmas with her, so to have Caitlin there, it would make it a whole lot easier.  Finally after weeks of convincing, well more like begging, Caitlin finally agreed to spend Christmas with Katie. When Katie told ruesha that Caitlin would be joining them for Christmas, ruesha couldn't help but get jealous. She was already insecure about Katie and Caitlin's "Friendship" and here Katie was inviting Caitlin to a family holiday.

The morning came when the 3 girls would be leaving for Ireland, ruesha and Katie left early that morning to pick Caitlin up from her and Jordan's house, when Caitlin got in the car, Katie gave her a comforting smile, where as ruesha, she just rolled her eyes and looked in the other direction. The car ride to the airport was mostly quiet. Caitlin and Katie made eye contact a few times through the rear view mirror, but very few words were spoken. As they waited at the gate to board, Caitlin was having major second thoughts, in the little time she had already spent with ruesha she had felt so uncomfortable the whole time. When ruesha left to go to the bathroom, Katie noticed Caitlin in a spiral of her own thoughts and spoke, "I want you here" was all Katie said, Caitlin looked up and gave Katie a uncertain smile, before putting her head back down "I need you here, please" Katie than said as tears threatened to fall, Caitlin looked up again, this time noticing the tears in Katie's eyes realising there was more to Katie asking Caitlin to come on this holiday. As Caitlin went to say something about it to Katie, she noticed Katie's body tense up as ruesha walked back over. Katie sat in between Caitlin and ruesha on the plane, all 3 girls slept the whole way. When they arrived in Dublin, Ella was waiting for them out the front of the airport, "Ells!" Katie yelled as she gave her little sister a hug, ella than noticed Caitlin, "wait, no fucking way, Caitlin I didn't know you were coming" ella said as she went to give Caitlin a big hug, "hey ells, it's been to long" Caitlin replied as ella put her down, Katie couldn't help but smile at Caitlin and her sisters bond. Ruesha on the other hand was fuming as ella didn't even acknowledge her, "well hello to you to, Ella" ruesha said as Caitlin and ella were still catching up. Ella didn't reply just awkwardly smiled, Katie nugged ruesha and gave her a look, to which ruesha just rolled her eyes.

When the 4 girls arrived home it was all much the same, all the McCabes gave Katie a big hug, followed by Caitlin. Ruesha got a wave from a few and a smile here and there. Katie had told her mum and a few of her older sisters about the issues she was having with ruesha. Katie's mum had told her to leave ruesha but it wasn't that easy. As Ella showed Caitlin to the room she would be staying in, Katie and ruesha walked up to Katie's old room. "Very nice of your family to say hello to me" ruesha said in a sarcastic tone making Katie instantly turn around, "Not here ruesha" Katie said trying to walk out the door to see Caitlin, "I mean they managed to welcome Caitlin" ruesha continued as she stopped Katie from walking out and grabbed her wrist hard, "Rue just drop it" Katie said trying to get out of rueshas grib, "Your not going to stick up for me infront of your family" ruesha yelled angrily now pushing Katie against the door, "ruesha stop" Katie yelled loud enough for caitlin and Ella who were in the next room to hear. Caitlin and Ella both looked at each other before running to Katie's room, caitlin opened the door to see ruesha unpacking her bag that was on the bed while Katie stood almost frozen with tears in her eyes. "What's all the yelling" Ella said oblivious to what just happened, caitlin on the other hand knew immediately what went down and was furious, "Hey Katie your mum wanted you to help her in the kitchen" caitlin said calmly grabbing Katie's hand and walking her downstairs, Ella followed behind leaving rue upstairs to unpack. "Mum hasn't even started dinner caitlin?" Ella said looking at caitlin confused, "Oh I must have missed heard" Caitlin said before taking Katie outside, "What happened" Caitlin said when it was just the two girls, Katie wanted to cry but knew if she did she would worry her family, "Rue just got annoyed no one said hello to her" Katie said walking back inside, caitlin grabbed Katie's wrist, making Katie flinch and jump back. Caitlin immediately removed her hand, "Kates" caitlin said as Katie let a few tears fall before wiping them. "It's fine, I'm fine" Katie said smiling at Caitlin. "Your not fine" Caitlin said looking Katie in the eyes, "I just want to get through Christmas" Katie said as she let out a heavy sigh followed by a few tears. Caitlin nodded before hugging Katie and wiping her tears, she than walked them back inside. Lauryn one of Katie's younger sisters who was walking outside to find Katie, stopped in her tracks when she saw her older sister crying, followed by Caitlin hugging her. She went and told her other sisters about Katie crying straight away. "Maybe she's just tired laur" Vanessa one of Katie's older siblings who knew exactly what was going on said, "She told me she slept the whole flight though" ella added on making Vanessa turn her head and give ella a look. When Lauryn left the room ella spoke, "What do you know that we don't" Vanessa just looked at ella, than all the other older sisters. "Katie's just having some problems with ruesha" jade another of Katie's sisters spoke. "Is that why they were yelling before" Ella said, making all the sisters worried about Katie.
