AUTHOR'S POV :

Ishan's alarm rang sharply at four in the morning, its sweet, delicate tone filling the stillness of the early dawn. He opened his eyes, the familiar sound grounding him for just a moment. Blinking away the haze of sleep, his gaze instinctively shifted to the figure resting beside him, and his heart softened.

There she was—his Aadhriti—lost in a peaceful slumber, her face bathed in the soft glow of the moonlight filtering through the window. Her presence was like a balm to his heart, each feature of hers more beautiful than he remembered. Her gentle breaths, the slight curve of her lips, even the faint crease on her forehead as she dreamed—it was all so achingly familiar, yet so distant. Her beauty was beyond anything he could put into words; to him, she was ethereal, a vision he never dared to imagine seeing again up close.

After countless days apart, just this quiet moment of being near her filled him with an indescribable peace. He hadn't realized how starved he was for her presence, how desperately he'd missed the comfort she unknowingly provided. And in that stillness, a tear slipped down his cheek, carrying with it the weight of his pain and longing. A soft, bittersweet smile spread across his lips, barely a whisper of the emotions storming within him.

Reaching for his phone on the dashboard, he held it in his trembling hands. He pressed his lips softly to the screen, as if by some magic, he could bridge the distance between them. He brought the phone close to his chest, holding it as though it held a part of her, as though it would somehow let him keep this moment alive just a little longer.

He sat there, clutching the phone, feeling her presence linger around him, not daring to break the fragile quiet. But after a few minutes, he gently ended the call, reminding himself of the harsh reality—she was still angry. She might never forgive him. The thought clawed at him, and though every part of him ached to stay, he knew he couldn't. If she saw him here, would she even want him near?

Would she really not want him?

With a heavy heart, he started the engine, casting one last, lingering look at her through the windshield before driving away. The road ahead was shrouded in the darkness of early morning, yet the emptiness inside him felt so much deeper. He drove off, feeling the distance between them grow with every mile, haunted by the thought of her sleeping so close, yet so impossibly out of reach.

Aadhriti woke up, her body sinking into the mattress as she stretched out, savoring a rare feeling—restfulness. For the first time in days, she'd slept peacefully. The past week had felt like a blur, each night spent fighting off the lingering restlessness of insomnia. But today was different; today felt like the beginning of something new, as if a weight had finally been lifted.

She glanced at the clock. Eight. Usually, she'd be up by five, her mind already whirring with plans for the day. But today she didn't care. For once, she felt no urgency, no pressure. Maybe sleeping in once isn't so bad, she thought, smiling to herself as she slid out of bed, feeling strangely refreshed..She'd been battling insomnia for days, her nights stretching into restless hours filled with endless thoughts. But last night had been different—a much-needed reprieve. She let a small, grateful smile linger on her lips, savoring the relief.
