Part 20

I just as jj starts to fight off the cops, busting through the doors falling onto the ground. We all start to run out trying to go help him. Then he gets put in the back of the police car .
"Jj!" I yell banging on the window
Then someone got on top of the car and smashed the back window. We quickly start to pull jj out of the window.
"Jj you gotta go. Go! Run run!" We all yell at him and he takes off

We all 5 just stood there as we watched him run off, hopefully getting away from all cops.
"Come on let's go let's go come on. He's heading downtown" John b says and we all take off running.

Once we reached downtown it was a mess, windows of stores broken, the cars were smashed, the electricity was sending sparks everywhere. And the riot was just getting started.
"Do yall see him?" Kie asks
"No" John b and pope say
"Where is he?" I ask
"I don't know" John b mumbles

"I think I know where he's going guys. Follow me follow me" John b says then we take off running again
"Alright following you let's go" I nod

We run up to a house where the windows were smashed, could you guess who's house it was, yeah bet you could. Shoupe was already out front with other cops.
"Shoupe Shoupe Shoupe, he's not gonna do anything" pope try's to tell him but another cop pushes him back.

"All right jj! This is what I was talking about son! You've gone too far and we got a serious situation! I told you this shit would happen and here we are! I need you to put down any and all weapons you may have or you will get shot. And I don't want that. Just come on out with your hands up. Jj listen up son" Shoupe says through the microphone
"No you listen up Shoupe. I'm not just gonna come out there so you can take what's ours and let them win again. It was ours fair and square. So I have a right to fight for what's mine." Jj yells back
"Jj! Can you hear me? Just do what they say!" Kie yells
"No! I'm done kissing the feet of people who've taken from me my entire life!" He yells
"He's not gonna listen you have to do something" kie says
"Shoupe he broke a window" John b says
"Shoupe you can not shoot him!" Kie yells
"Shoupe please!" I yell
"Yall might have given up. But I'm not done fighting. So Shoupe, you want me. You're gonna have to come get me." Jj tells him
"Jj!" I yell

Shoupe starts to walk towards the house as well as the other cop but he had his gun raised. Then pope starts to run.
"Wait pope pope" we all say
"Where's pope going?" Kie says as we all try to follow, then we watch as pope tackles one of the cops.
"Pope! Hey no stop!" We all try to yell but it was too late, the cops put pope into the car. They arrested him.

Shoupe goes in then comes out a little later but no jj.
"What's going on Shoupe? Where's jj?" John b asks
"Never mind him, your buddy over there assaulted an officer while he was performing his duties. All right that's a felony." Shoupe tells him
"He had his gun out for no reason!" John b says
"You're in a world of trouble pope." Shoupe says then another cop tells him jj is gone
"He's on foot, we're gotta find him" kie says
"Shit shit shit let's go" I mumble

"Jj!" I yell
"Jj!" Kie and John b yell
"Dude where is he?" Kie asks as we have been walking forever and it was already dark out.
"We gotta find him before the cops do" she adds
"Jj!" Kie yells
I started to feel really weird, and I quickly knew what it was.
"Hey you ok?" John b asks looking back at me
"Yeah. Yeah I'm fine, just worried for jj" I tell him

"Oof this place is trashed" John b says as we walk through the mess the riot made that next morning
"Jesus" kie mumbles
"Jj is long gone. We should get out of here" John b says
"And go where? They're probably already bulldozing pougelandia." Kie says
"That means JJ's slashing tires" John b says
"That's actually pretty likely" kie mumbles
"Hey you ok?" John b asks me again as I was feeling weird like last night
"Yeah I'm I'm... uh I have to. You know, I'll be right back." I tell them and walk off

I walked into a drug store through the broken glass door, slowly walking in and looking around. I found what I needed and quickly went to the bathroom.

I open up the pregnancy test and take it. I sat there waiting anxiously. I didn't know what to think. My leg wouldn't stop bouncing up and down. I felt like I couldn't take a deep breath as I waited.

I finally stood up holding the test in my hand. I took a deep breath then looked down at it. My breathing stopped.

It...it says negative.
"Shit no no no no. This can't happen no" I mumble trying not to cry
I check the box again to make sure that was the right sign but it was, it was negative. I wasn't pregnant.
Then I hear a knock at the door.
"Ahh one second" I say
"Are you in there?" Kie asks
"Uh yeah uh" I mumble
"Ok. Uh lol I think I know where jj went" she tells me
"Ok" I say opening the door
"And I can explain on the way" she tells me
"Ok" I nod still trying to breath
"Are you ok?" She asks seeing something was up
"Yeah" I nod
"Wha-" kie starts to saying looking into the bathroom, I try to block her but it was too late.

"What is that?" Kie asks but I don't answer
"Is that yours?" She asks
"Um yeah" I nod she walks in and looks at it
"It's negative...." She says holding it
"Yeah" I nod again
After a few seconds of her just looking at me she speaks up again

"Is that not what you wanted?" She asks me
"Um... it's uh it's hard to explain I-" I start to say but stop trying not to cry
"Hey hey it's ok, you don't have to tell me" she says
"No no I want to it's fine. I just, after I got shot. Something never felt fully right inside, I didn't know what it was but I could almost feel it. So after we got back from our whole little trip I visited a family friend who's a doctor. She helped me for free and uh, I don't remember the exact words but uh. She told me the shot messed up my process to get pregnant. And she said you know if I ever did it and I'm not pregnant in the next few weeks after, then I would have the next 3 maybe 4 months to keep trying before I won't be able to at all..... and I don't know how that's even possible but something about where the bullet hit and and how the guy took it out, it limited by ability to get pregnant and I have a very short period to try. I don't know kie, I'm scared" I explain to her as a couple of tears fall
"Shh shh it's ok" she says pulling me into a hug
"It's ok. We will figure this out" she tells me just holding me in a hug. After a little bit I finally clam down

"Do you want to have kids?" She asks me
"Yes no, yes. Yes I do, I mean it's just so soon now you know. I don't even know what to think, or if I'll even be able to now" I tell her
"No no it'll be ok. Did she tell you to do anything to help the process?" She asks me
"Uh I think she told me to treat myself as if I was pregnant. She said through the next few months it's gonna feel like I am pregnant. That I'll get sick if I don't eat, things like that" I tell her
"Ok so you do everything as if you're pregnant got it. I'll help you, we will figure it out." She tells me

"Impeccable timing though. I mean, homeless, broke again, chased by killers, almost dying. Now on top of all that add I have to get pregnant in the next few months or I won't be able to at all, but I don't even know if John b would be ok with that plus we also still have to finish this treasure hunt before I can do that" I list
"I don't really know how it could get better" kie says
"I'd be great if we could find like one positive thing" I tell her looking down still trying not to cry
"You're gonna be an amazing mom. And John b loves you." she tells me
"Obviously" I laugh
"He's gonna be an all right dad. Whoa" Kie says and we both start laughing
"And you'll have all of us. They say it takes a village." She says
"Yeah. Thank you" I smile bringing her into a hug
"You're gonna be ok" she tells me
"I love you" I say
"I love you too" she says
"You'll be auntie kie" I laugh
"Whoa, auntie kie!" She smiles as we laugh and I wipe away my tears
