"A diamond forged out of pressure huh?" Ego mumbled to himself as James King was called up to receive his medallion. He was satisfied by what James King had shown him, he then turned to Anri. "If you agree to sponsor this project I'll create you five James Kings by the time of the U-20 World Cup"
Anri nodded. "Look its not me that has a problem against this project, it will be the the other members of the JFA"
Ego sighed and stood up. "The JFA will soon realise that they don't have a proper striker in this upcoming world cup, present your solution after the team fails"
Ego stood up and placed his hands in his pockets. "You know how to contact me"

"A minute of your time Mr King?" A reporter shouted in perfect English, getting the attention of King, who turned around to see a well dressed female reporter with a cameraman behind him.
"English? How'd you know that I would respond to that?" James asked back in English as the crew walked over to him, the reporter's eyes focused on the medallion and then his face.
"You did scream into a camera in English... without a Japanese accent by the way" She replied before raising the microphone towards him. "Got anything to say about that?"
James chuckled, placing his hands on his hips and then raising an eyebrow. "That's some pretty sensitive information, at least ease me into the conversation before getting into my life story"
"Right" The reporter nodded. "I'm Amy Bright from the British Broadcasting Channel, I'm currently travelling around the world looking for new talents before the big clubs snatch them up"
"I'm actually surprised that I haven't gotten an offer from one of the bigger clubs" James responded, the camera focusing on him. "After all, I am the best talent in the region at the moment"
"That's a pretty bold claim... one that has yet to be disproven" The reporter replied, looking at the Japanese media which had gathered around them. "I'm here to introduce you to the world, Tell them your name, your favourite club and what your dream is"
James put on a bright smile, this was a great opportunity to gain an international image. "My name is James King, I always wear the number nine! My favourite club is Manshine United and my dream..."
He rubbed his chin in thought, humming for a few seconds before the proverbial light bulb went off in his head. "My dream is to chase that feeling I just had before... The feeling of being the best!"
"Wonderful! I hope we get to see you in the English League!" The reporter replied before ending the conversation, walking away with the cameraman.
King looked at the rest of the media and shook his head, switching back to Japanese he chuckled. "No more questions"

James returned to the orphanage where he was greeted by a surprise party. The lights went on and party poppers sprayed confetti as he read the banner.
'Congratulations James!'
Looking around confused, James knew his birthday was months away so why would they be celebrating?
"Uh? What?" James asked, confused as all the kids giggled. "Did you guys think my birthday was today?"
Ruka chuckled from her seat on the closest table. "No dummy! It's a celebration for you!"
"And what did I do that warrants this?" James asked as he crossed his arms, news of the final would not have travelled this fast. Though he wasn't too sure.
"This" The familiar voice of his middle school football coach boomed as he walked over to James with an envelope. Handing it to the young striker. James inspected the envelope, noticing that it had come from England.
"Thanks coach, good to see you" James replied as he flipped the envelope, noticing that the date was off. And that the envelope was opened."Did you open this?"
"Nah, Ruka did" one of the kids explained as coach chuckled.
"Good to see you too kid"
James opened the letter to see the logo of his childhood favorite club. Manshine United. His hearted started to beat with false hope, the lingering knowledge of the off date was plaguing his mind. "Where did you get this?"
"Well the old hag that is in charge of the orphanage tasked me with cleaning her desk, and well I found this, So I figured I'd give it to you instead of her" Ruka explained as she grinned.
Inspecting the full letter James gasped.
Dear Mr. King,
Your standout performances in the Japanese Middle School League has garnered the attention of Manshine United. We would be interested in having you develop in our world renowned youth academy in Manshine.
Due to your unique circumstances the board has approved to offer you a full-scholarship program, in which all your base needs for the Academy will be paid for.
We eagerly await your response.
Kind Regards,
Manshine United.
James's hand gripped into the paper, almost tearing it from the sheer force. Anger welled up in him as he noticed that the date was indeed wrong. This letter was from three years ago, after he finished his fist middle school football run.
Why had he not been told about this? He asked himself as he grunted, tears welling in his eyes. Everyone thought they were tears of joy. They were wrong.
He laughed as those children around him surrounded him with cheer, his ego seeping out of his very being as he palmed his own face to mask his rageful and hurt face. He couldn't let these kids see him being weak.
King broke out into a hysterical laugh as his fist turned the letter into a paper ball. A single word echoed through his head as Ruka hugged him from behind.
Why?
