Graduation

I have been waiting for this moment since forever.

Hopefully it helps me with my future endeavors.

Finally years of work, years of being bored.

I see myself in the mirror with a mortar board.

My name called out as I stand in place.

I get my degree and a firm handshake.

Standing in a crowd of graduates.

Throwing our hats up, we're no longer students.

Time has come to face the real world.

At heart I am still a young girl.

Fierce stares of strangers follow.

From regret to maybe even sorrow.

Get a boring job in time.

Pretending that everything is fine.

Wanting to be free from this place.

Not wanting to be called a disgrace.

Quiting my job to start a family.

Happiness begins to seep in slowly.

No more work to be done,

Now with a family. All is fun!
