January 10 dawned with an air of celebration in Portsmouth. The Mount residence was full of life and excitement. Mason was turning 24, and although his life had changed drastically in recent years, the love of his family and his connection to them remained central pillars.
Primrose, with her belly already quite pronounced at six months pregnant, took it upon herself to oversee the preparations early on. She knew how much this day meant to Mason, especially now that he was about to become a father of three.
Arriving at the Mount home, Primrose was greeted with a warm hug from Mason's mother Debbie.
-Primrose, my dear, you look radiant," Debbie said, gazing at her with a mixture of affection and admiration.
-Thank you, Debbie. Although I think it's more the glow of pregnancy," Primrose replied with a smile as she settled back on the sofa.
Tony, Mason's father, appeared with a large bouquet of flowers. -Happy birthday to the boy of the house, but you deserve recognition too, Prim. Carrying two future Mounts is no easy task.
Primrose laughed, grateful for the gesture. Meanwhile, Mason was in the garden playing football with his brother Lewis and Frederik, who was trying to mimic his father's every move.
-Dad, look, I scored! -Frederik shouted, running towards Mason with his arms outstretched.
Mason lifted him into the air, laughing. -You are a champion!
After a homemade lunch lovingly prepared by Debbie and Jaz, it was time for speeches. Mason was sitting next to Primrose, who was holding Frederik's hand as he nibbled on a piece of cake.
-Before we start with the official speeches, Prim and I have something to share with you," said Mason, looking at his family with a mixture of pride and excitement.
Debbie tilted her head curiously as Tony set his teacup aside.
-We've decided on the names of the twins," Primrose announced, smiling broadly.
The room was silent for a moment, everyone waiting expectantly.
-The first will be named Philip Nicholas Alexander Mount of England and Portsmouth," said Mason, watching his family's reactions.
-Philip after the Duke of Edinburgh, is it? -asked Tony, with a wistful smile.
Primrose nodded. -That's right. We want to honour his legacy.
-And the second will be Christian Mason Alexander Mount of England and Portsmouth," Mason added.
Debbie put a hand to her chest, visibly excited. -Mason... to have your name on it is beautiful.
-It's our way of making sure they both have a little bit of us in them," Primrose explained, looking at Mason tenderly.
Jaz, who was sitting nearby with her daughter Summer, broke the silence. -They're strong, meaningful names. I bet they'll suit them perfectly.
