TWs: Fluff overload, brief mention of past injuries/abuse, Neptune being Neptune. Stay safe :)
Jupiter hummed, watching as his bigger moons conversed. Triton, who had said Neptune could hang out with them as long as he brought the other Neptunian moons, was multitasking between talking to Callisto and keeping an eye on the smaller moons. Jupiter found it somewhat endearing knowing that the ex-dwarf was protective over them, even if he didn't like showing it.
He adjusted the square lenses perched on his nose before continuing to read his book, sighing contently.
"Hahahahah!"
A familiar melodic sound reached his ears, making him look up. Saturn and Uranus were in orbit beside him, talking and laughing together. The scene made him smile. Uranus hadn't been himself lately, so he was glad Saturn was trying to cheer the other up.
Saturn's laugh always seemed to affect him, his core rumbling in his chest as his face grew warm.
"I- I just never expected..."
"Never expected what...?"
"For you—to like, let alone love, me... back."
The words reverberated within his mind, making his head reel. He pursed his lips, staring longingly at the ringed Celestial across the void of space.
"You know," A voice piped, "He dropped something important."
Jupiter blinked, looking down at Europa and Ganymede, "What are you talking about?"
"The flower, duh!" Europa crossed her arms, "It slipped from Saturn's grasp when that, uh... what's-its-face-"
"Black Hole," Ganymede whispered to her.
"Yeah! When that Black Hole attacked him!" Europa cleared her throat, puffing her chest out in pride, "But, lucky for you, we managed to recover it! Show him, babe!"
Ganymede nodded, using his gravity to lift something from behind him. He struggled, the flower being a bit bigger than him, as he held it out to his planet, "H-Here...!"
Jupiter took the rose quickly, Ganymede huffing from exerting so much energy.
Jupiter twirled the rose in his hand, inspecting it for abnormalities, yet found none. He smiled softly, patting Europa on the head, "Thanks, you two. You're amazing to have done this."
"Heh, no problem." Europa beamed, loving the attention from her planet.
Ganymede looked expectantly at Jupiter, a sense of pleading behind his gaze.
The Celestial chuckled, giving his biggest moon a head pat as well, "You two should run along now. Tell the others I'll be in the next orbit if they need anything."
"Yes, sir!"
"You got it, big guy!"
...
"Ooh, we should paint together sometime, Ura!" Saturn gushed, taking Uranus' hands in his own.
"You can paint...?" Uranus tilted his head, quirking an eyebrow.
"Haha, no... but I'm willing to learn!" Saturn grinned, "We can even invite Jupiter and Neptune if you want!"
Uranus smiled, finding Saturn's carefree nature welcoming in his moment of insecurity, "Sure, mate, that sounds good."
Saturn beamed, giving Uranus' hands a reassuring squeeze.
A voice was heard clearing their throat as the ringed duo turned to look at the intruder.
