After listening to Gale's cries for help and banging on the door until his hands were bloody, Wyll stumbled back as Priestess Gut swung the door open. He could see Gale, crumpled on the ground, unmoving and burnt, before the Priestess began shouting:

"These 'visitors' are no true souls! Strike them down!"

Shit, Wyll thought to himself. He didn't have time to check in with the others because the Priestess had turned her attention toward him immediately.

"You foul beast!" Wyll shouted angrily.

"Don't bother," she snapped, flashing him a pointy-toothed smile. "Your friend in there is dead. Some Wizard he is!"

Dead?

Wyll ignored her words and casted Eldritch blast her way, letting out an angry growl. Two of the beams hit her hard enough to send her flying, the third missing just barely and hitting a vase farther into the room. It shattered into thousands of small pieces nearby Gale, some of them landing on his charred, purple robes.

As Wyll and the Priestess began to fight, Shadowheart and Lae'zel turned to look at each other. Goblins were rushing down each flight of stairs and toward them in the center of the room. "I will strike," Lae'zel said in her commanding, raspy voice. "You cover me and heal if necessary."

For once, Shadowheart didn't feel a sense of anger when she looked at the Gith woman. Instead, she found herself agreeing. The angry shouts of the goblins and the fear of death was enough to make her nod.

"Will do."

Lae'zel rushed into a group of four or five goblins while Shadowheart turned and began running toward one of the flights of stairs, aiming to gain some higher ground. She casted guiding bolt at one of the goblins that had turned his attention toward her and it hit, stunning him long enough for her to run past. Shadowheart took the stairs two at a time and hurried to a wooden ledge located directly behind the Priestess' throne.

Wyll, Lae'zel, and Shadowheart fought as hard as they could, but all three knew that if the others didn't join them, they'd soon be overrun. Goblins were running in from different sections of the camp and, while they were distracted, one had managed to get to one of the war drums that they'd forgotten about amidst the chaos.

Boom, boom, boom.

"Dammit!" Shadowheart snapped. She sent a fireball at the drumming goblin, the being instantly killed and burnt to a crisp. It screamed as it fell to the ground, lifeless.

Wyll and the Priestess went back and forth for longer than he expected, but perhaps it was because he'd forced her back into the room and they were fighting around the body of his newfound companion. After all was said and done, if Gale was truly dead, he would consider this a loss. The Priestess managed to hit him with some sort of radiant spell, but Wyll hit her once more with Eldritch blast, then descended on her with a sword while her guard was down. She'd healed herself a few times during the fight, but once Wyll had the upper hand he was able to kill her quickly. She fell just behind her desk, a pool of blood beginning to seep into the cracks in the floor.

Wyll let out a breath and sheathed his sword, hurrying to Gale's side and crouching down. "Gale?" He said, shaking his shoulder.

He was near unrecognizable, his robes burned into his once lightly tanned skin. Patches of his dark hair were burned away and big spots of skin on his face had been scorched red and black. Wyll checked Gale's pulse and found nothing, then checked again, then once more.
