Sorry again for so late a post! I'll be real with y'all, I've had major writers block and it's been hard to just really sit and write. I'm working on it and things will get smoother from here! Anyway, enjoy!
-Nokk POV-
"This place is nice," Y/N smiled, looking around at the scenery. I had chosen a place near base, one I've known for a while. As well as Y/N being new to base, he had asked for me to pick a place. He had even dressed up a little bit, with a collared shirt and some blue jeans, while I opted for a basic black skirt and sweater. Instead of my veil, Y/N had convinced me to put on a beanie, an action which I, eventually, agreed to. I did not like showing my face much, but if someone were to recognize me, well, it probably wouldn't end well.
"Not too bad, no," I agreed, nibbling at my food. I had gotten my usual, a small filet with potatoes, while Y/N opted for the tomahawk cut with a side of mixed veggies.
"How long have you been going here? Our waiter knew your order before you ordered," Y/N asked, cocking his head. I blushed a bit, pulling the beanie down a bit, slightly over my eyes.
"Too much, apparently. Didn't know I had a 'usual' until earlier so," I shrugged. "I mean it helps that I know the waiter. She was in a car accident a few years ago outside of base, and me and some others jumped in to help,"
"Wow, you are such a hero," Y/N complimented, finishing his steak. I smirked, setting aside my own steak knife.
"We all are. Save lives in the field and whatnot" I commented. Y/N nodded, slowly, sipping at his drink.
"Still, you are appreciated for the little things, and sometimes, that's all that matters," I stopped, looking up at Y/N. He looked back at me with that charm of his, the one I fell for (eventually), and came to love. I decided to try to be joyful for the rest of the date, and we ended up talking about how we would have a pet on base without anyone finding out. Long story short, a toucan is not something we could easily hide.
As we finished our date and headed back to base, I found myself laying into Y/N a bit, just enjoying the moment. It was nice to just...breathe for a moment, like nothing is wrong. Feeling his steady heartbeat, and hearing his calm breaths, it just made everything feel...right? Arriving back on base, we broke apart, as he had a training sim to get to. Before he left, however, he planted a quick kiss on my cheek, causing me to blush.
"Was very fun. Glad we did that," he smiled as I fished my veil out from my pocket.
"Me too," I smiled, resting the veil over my head. "Maybe we could do that again?"
"Time and place," he smiled as I let my veil fall over my face.
"Text me when you're done," I directed, Y/N nodding in approval. After waving him off and I was left alone, I wandered around base for a little before ending up in the lab. It's not a place I regular, however, with not much to do at the time, I figured I'd see what it was all about. I entered and saw various blueprints, machines, and electronics scattered around. It looked like some sort of mad scientist lab more than a mechanical science one. I was starting to look over a blown-up image of one of Jordan's brimstone charges when a loud voice called out;
"DUCK!" Instinctively, I hit the floor, not even knowing what was, if anything, sailing above me. A loud crash! and moans of pain gave me a partial answer, and I picked myself up off the floor. I looked over to the sounds and saw Seamus sitting in a pile of metal barrels, rubbing his head. Walking over to him, I held out my hand, to which he took, nodding at my assistance.
"What-"
"Don't wanna know" he spoke grimly, cutting me off. Just then, Elena and Sanaa came jogging over, both looking quite pleased, Sanaa looking ready to dive into a laughing fit. Seeing Sanaa there seemed to piece it together for me.
"I'm starting to think there's nothing wrong with your airjab, Sanaa," I smirked, looking towards her. She chuckled dryly, helping Seamus to his feet.
"Never said there was," she shrugged as Seamus gave her a sour face.
"Gustave is gonna kill you one day. This is the fourth time this week!" he bantered, shaking his head as he grabbed his facemask. "I got a sim in half an hour, hopefully by then i'll be good to go," And with that, Seamus took his leave.
"Where have you been all day?" Elena asked me, typing something into her tablet. I shrugged a bit.
"Was out, getting some fresh air." I answered.
"Some of Y/N's fresh air?" Sanaa asked, smirking.
"You know what, Sanaa?" I growled, balling a fist at her. She laughed a bit, putting her hands up.
"I kid I kid. But for real?"
"Yeah," I spoke quietly. "We were on a date,"
"How'd it go?" Elena asked, giving me her attention now, looking up from her tablet. I shrugged a bit before nodding.
"Went pretty well. No interruptions so I guess that's something,"
"Something on your mind?" Elena asked. Truth be told, I was a bit lost. Being new with feelings, I was not sure how to proceed with Y/N, or even what we were right now. Were we official? Just friends?
"Just...processing I suppose,"
"First-timer, huh?" Sanaa asked, folding her arms. As annoying as she can be, and she can get VERY annoying, she always hits the nail on the head. I leaned into the wall a bit, letting myself relax into it.
"Feelings are hard," I let out, bluntly.
"Yeah, so is everything else we do," Elena chimed in. "You can't figure out your feelings about Y/N, we have bigger problems,"
"Thanks" I muttered. Much as I hate to admit it, she had a point. We train for near-impossible everyday, and I am unsure how I feel? Sighing, I shook my head and exited the lab, waving goodbye to Sanaa and Elena. I needed to find Y/N, and we needed to have a sit down chat about all of this.
Now.
