Just like how I imagined Aneesah fell for Romeo when he consoled her about something, I'd imagine the way he fell in love with her was something like this.
When Romeo urges the gang to leave him in the terminal zone, Aneesah begins to scowld at how he is taking the easy way out and if he's really acknowledging his wrong doings, he'll make up for them, insisting he comes with them and makes sure he makes up for what he's done. "You want penance? You'll earn it." Basically, she ends up being the one to make sure he makes it out alive.
After they have had their many adventures together, they have a talk about their journey. Romeo recounts his life as an Admin, wishing he knew better back then. Aneesah adds how many people who have no remorse for their actions (referring to Hadrian) wouldn't care about making things right. Romeo took note of his wrongdoings and is looking to be a better person. That already proves he's changed. "You've come so far, I think that's something to be proud of." That's when she stands up and reaches out to help him. In the light, he starts to see something different about her, about the way she makes him feel.
