winterfell, the north

— JON WAS KNEE-DEEP IN A HISTORICALLY BORING COUNCIL MEETING WHEN HE FIRST HEARD THE COMMOTION. At first, it could have been passed off as some small dispute between men in the courtyard, but then more people began clamoring, and he realised it wasn't a dispute at all. It sounded more like excitement.

A soldier hurried into the room then, looking a bit out of breath. He bowed quickly. "Your Grace. I–"

A dragon's screech suddenly split the air. Jon rose to his feet, hiding his smile.

The soldier swallowed, looking a bit aimless seeing as what he had been about to say was no longer new information. "Her Grace has returned from Dorne." He said anyway.

Jon gave the man a nod. "Thank you." As the soldier disappeared back down the hall, he glanced over his council. "We'll continue later."

Sansa nodded, rising with her hands folded in front of her and a little smile. "Of course, Your Grace." She of all people knew how eager he was to get out of the room. Nymeria had been gone almost three weeks now, and she too, missed her best friend.

Beyond the castle walls, Rhaegal was still flaring his wings, snarling lightly as he got settled. Slowly, the gates swung open, and bowed heads rolled over the courtyard as Nymeria strode in. Barking, Ghost ran out to greet her, and she smiled, obligingly scratching around his cheeks before he bounded out of the gates to meet Rhaegal and Wren.

Jon made his way down from one of the raised walkways, and she smiled when she saw him. Something in her eyes gave away that there was trouble to be discussed later, but right now, she was just relieved to be home. She wasted no time crossing the grounds towards him and letting herself be pulled into a warm embrace.

"Your Grace." She murmured jokingly, pulling a small smile from her husband.

He withdrew to press a soft kiss to her lips. "Dorne is still in one piece, I trust?"

"For now." She chuckled. "Rhaegal certainly enjoys the warmth. Everyone's alright here?"

Jon withheld an eyeroll. "I suppose. Although I blame the stubbornness of some select individuals on the absence of the queen."

Nymeria's lip twitched. "Oh? What sort of stubbornness?"

Jon didn't get the chance to answer before a figure came barrelling out of the castle and into Nymeria's side. "Mama!" The little boy gripped at her skirts like he'd never let go, burying his face in the side of her leg. He was six, now, and came up to her hip already.

Nymeria laughed, reaching down to scoop him up into her arms. "Should I presume that you are the stubborn one your father refers to?" She pried, ruffling his hair before pressing a kiss to his cheek.

"I missed you." The boy pouted. His skin tone was all his father's, as was his hair, but he had Nymeria's bold, beautiful, irresistible features. It made him perhaps the cutest child in all the world.

"I missed you too, Ned." She cooed, hugging him closer. Then her eyes spotted the figure emerging from one of the doorways. She grinned at him, extending an arm towards him. "Come here, you."

"Mother." He smiled, obligingly coming to her side and accepting her embrace. He was three years older than his brother, and he'd already figured out how to expertly combine his father's honour with his mother's mischief. But where Ned looked like the perfect combination of his parents, Jeor was nearly his father's perfect image.

Jon smiled fondly at the three of them as Nymeria leant down to kiss the boy's head. She shifted closer to her husband's side as he put an arm around Jeor. She was of the North, of course, but her time in Dorne still made her want to bury herself under fur blankets when she returned sometimes.

She glanced up at Jon, placing another small kiss on his lips. Still, Jeor wrinkled his nose, and Ned gave a whining, ewww. Nymeria chuckled, shaking her head at her sons. "Shall we?"

Jon nodded, and the four started off towards the doors inside. "Come. Sansa and Arya have missed you."

A/N:
Idk if anyone cares, but in my head, they both agreed to name their first boy Jeor because he was a father to both of them, and then said if their second child was a boy, Jon would name him and if it was a girl, Nym would name her <3 (I also firmly believe she would have named a girl after Gilly)
