Your eyes opened slowly. It was dark in the room, but there was light peering through outside, so you could make outlines of everything. You sat up slowly, and looked around. You'd been here before. It was a room at school. Shoko put you here for bedrest the last time she healed you.The window was closed, but you could see that it was dark outside.
You moved to get up but got surprised by a light snore. Your eyes focused on where you knew the couch was in the room. Sure enough, you could make out the silhouette of Satoru.
You got up as quietly as you could, and stepped over to the couch, crouching down. The closer you got to him, the better you could see him. He slept peacefully. He always let out light snores when he came back home after an especially exhausting trip.
And obviously, Shibuya had been exhausting.
You didn't have a way to check the time right now, but you were sure you had missed Halloween. Even American Halloween. And you were sure Kiyo was sad. You frowned at the thought of her sleeping horridly early, but happily at the thought of going trick or treating this year.
There was always next year, anyways.
You watched Satoru take shallow breaths in between his snores. His chest moved up and down, lightly, and when he was resting like this, you realized how utterly beautiful he was. Kiyoko was lucky to have his pretty genetics.
You used to watch Satoru sleep all the time. As creepy as it sounds, it was peaceful. It helped you relax without using your technique on yourself. You would run your hands through his soft hair to wake him up. Or you would kiss his face. And once, fighting every easily embarrassed bone in your body, you did something extremely scandalous. He enjoyed all of those things - especially the last one.
Today was scary. You reflected as you looked at him. You could've lost him today. The strongest sorcerer in the world could've been killed or sealed or whatever the hell it was, because of his love for you. You made him weak. You hated that.
But you felt selfish. Today reminded you that you wanted to reap everything you could while you can. Who knew how long you had on this Earth. However long you did have, you wanted to wake up every morning to Satoru's face. You wanted to have every slow morning, every abrupt waking in the middle of the night because of Kiyo, every see you later, every I'm home, every hug, every kiss, even every fight, you wanted with Gojo Satoru.
Satoru's eyes fluttered awake when he felt something drop on his face.
He scrambled up. His vision in the dark was much better than yours. He could see and feel your tears, crystal clear. "Y/N," he quickly held onto your face and did his best to wipe away your tears, even though they continued to flow. "Y/N, you've been crying too much lately, you're gonna completely shatter my heart the next time this happens."
You didn't laugh at his attempt to make a joke.
"Hey, tell me what's wrong," he insisted softly. "Are you sad we couldn't take Kiyo out today? I'm sure she'll understand... eventually."
You shook your head. He swore you'd started crying harder.
"Okay, okay," Satoru sat up and slid down to sit with you on the floor. He brought his hand up to the back of your neck and placed your forehead on his shoulder. "Cry for as long as you need. I'll be here."
Through choked sobs, you whimpered. "I'm selfish, Satoru."
"Selfish?" Satoru smiled, rubbing soothing circles on your back. "You're an angel to me - but I guess I'm biased."
You shook your head, your forehead digging into his shoulder. He could feel your eyebrows furrow. "I just... I can't quit thinking how much I've regretted things recently."
