The blood war
chapter fifty seven, Love left me like this, I don't want to exist
———————————————————————————

-1929
Birmingham, England

And just like that, Paige left. She left the next morning with Tara and the rest of the Canavans the morning after. Arthur was heartbroken, understandably. But he felt like it needed to happen, he understood why she had to go back and it was going to hurt for a while... and she did promise contact this time so she won't have completely left them. "You're sure you want to come, Pea?" Tara asked, placing a hand on her arm. Paige nods silently, "I have to do this... For them...". She was still a little shaken up from last night, her arm wrapped in a makeshift sling Arthur made.

Tara nodded softly, guiding Paige carefully to the car. Arthur watched from afar in Tommy's library, looking through the glass window. He was Paige look back, making himself believe she looked back to see him one last time but he knew that wasn't the reason. And just like that, he was alone again... Alone but with three kids this time, three more or less motherless kids. "Maybe I should go see them..?" Paige asked, referring to the kids. Tara's face softened, "Paige..." "Tara." Paige said in a somewhat desperate pleading voice.

"It'll cause more harm that good." Tara said, not wanting to sound heartless but that what it came out as. "What if they've forgotten me?" Paige asked. "Pea they won't have. I know, they're young but they can't forget their mother... not that easily" Tara said, trying to reassure her... but in all honesty, Tara didn't even know if she could trust herself. Just then, Tara saw Mosley come out of Tommy's house, muttering under his breath "An evening with a bunch of fucking gypsies..." He then takes notice of Tara, "Did you have a lovely evening, Mrs Canavan?" he smirks.

"Piss off Mosley" Tara said, scrunching her face. "Taz?" Apollo asked, coming out of the Tommy's house. Mosley turns and bows to Apollo, "I'll be off, have a lovely rest of morning" Apollo approaches Tara and Paige, "What was that about?" he asked. "Nothing" Tara sighs, shaking her head, "Just Mosley being a prick as per usual." "You sure? He sounded genuine there" Apollo asked, raising his brow. Tara scoffs, "Nothing about that man is genuine. Don't tell me you're up his ass now too like Tommy is." referring to what Oswald Mosley told her and Milly last night about how he 'seduced' Apollo and Tommy. "No, Taz, that's not what I meant-" Apollo said, trying to correct himself but Tara dismissed him. "Forget it, let's go" Tara said, "Come, Paige."

Paige looked back at the house once more, actually noticing Arthur this time. It stung a little but walking away was what would hurt her the most. "Paige." Tara snapped. Paige snapped out of her thoughts and walked towards the car, getting in it and she left with the Canavan's... Just like she said she would the night before. Arthur sighed, watching her drive off. He didn't think she'd actually do it, but Paige was a woman of her word. Arthur looked down at the ring he was spinning between his fingers, his mother's... the one he had given Paige... she gave it back last night. It wasn't a sign of divorce, but it was clear they weren't the same as they were before.

Arthur is called upon later that night to go to Chinatown with Charlie, Curly, Aberama and Isiah. Probably wasn't the best idea as Arthur wasn't in the best state, especially since he was under the influence of alcohol. Even much so he decided to bring Artemis with him. An seven year old child. "Chinese lanterns, brass on deck. God fucking help us..." Charlie called out. "Where are we?" Artemis asked. "Chinatown, son. Chinatown." Arthur said, "Isiah watch him." Isiah began to step out of the boat, Arthur and Artemis following behind him.
