Grayson's P.O.V

"Get him!" I heard the guards yelling, running after me. It's lucky that they didn't know who I was. It was to dark to see anything and I had kept my hood up the entire time. Also I was grateful I knew this palace like the back of my hand and had taken time to study all the secret routes and halls. Right now I was heading for the main hanger were all the airships were, hoping I could figure out how to fly a scout ship before it was too late. Luckily I was the emperor's second in command and the wouldn't question were I had been. Oh no, the way to the hangers blocked I thought as I heard footsteps coming from the hall to my right. I looked back to see how far behind the guards were. Great, They were far enough behind to slip away. Quickly I rounded the corner to the left and pressed against a false wall and made my escape.

When I appeared I quickly took off my hoodie and pretended that everything was back to normal. I took a breath in relief. No one else was in the hallway, no else saw me. Or so I thought. I was about to round the corner to my room in the palace when someone grabbed me from behind covered my mouth and screamed, "Grayson stole the egg!" Instantly my instincts kicked in and I kicked him from behind and spun around before I punched him in the face. I recognized him as Dylan a skilled and trained assassin. I didn't know why he was here but it didn't really matter then I punched him in the face and ran.

30 mins. later

I rounded the corner to my house and saw it in flames. "No!" I screamed running in to the burning house hoping I could save my wife and two-year old son. "Kathy?"I screamed knowing it had no use. "Albert?" Well even though they are gone they would have wanted me to carry on I thought, as I tried to stop crying. I ran to my room to get my stuff from Ironmere. I grabbed my sword, some money, and some food. I tried to get the armor but the set was melted together. It was that hot? That was a bad sign. I turned around to leave but why way was blocked by flames. I started to panic, think Grayson think. Then I remember I had grabbed a water bottle. Stupid of me I thought throwing the water on the flames and running out side. As soon as I breathed in the fresh, clean, smoke-free air my lungs felt raw and dry. I started to cough like crazy but then I remember the Empire was I my tail so I fled. I fled into the Badlands.
