Haru stared at the soccer ball-sized rift, the image of the sky reflected within it, his eyes narrowing. "Another world?"
The aura emanating from beyond the rift was unlike anything he'd encountered before—a vast, powerful will that seemed to permeate the very air, a presence that sent a shiver of unease down his spine, a feeling he hadn't experienced in either the Campione! or DxD worlds.
It could only be one thing—an unknown world.
And now, with a stable portal established, it needed to be investigated.
But... caution was key. He needed a 'test subject'.
Haru's hand flickered, tearing open a three-meter-wide rift in space. The desolate landscape of the [Great Summoning of Hell] appeared before him.
Within the hellish realm, a figure with ten black, Fallen Angel wings, its appearance resembling a vampire, diligently practiced a 'peculiar technique'.
Haru looked at Kokabiel's lower body, covered in dark, dried blood, a look of disgust on his face. 'Seemingly forgetting who had ordered the continuous self-mutilation', he sneered.
"Kokabiel. Cease that activity."
Months of relentless sword practice had pushed Kokabiel to the brink of madness.
Only his unwavering will, honed through years of battle, had kept him from breaking completely.
Hearing Haru's command, his vacant eyes flickered back to life.
He scrambled to his feet and knelt, his voice filled with a desperate eagerness to please. "My lord! What are your commands?"
Kokabiel wasn't exactly known for his 'integrity'. After months of unending torture, thanks to his immortal nature, anyone who offered him a reprieve was a god in his eyes.
He didn't care who had condemned him to this hellish existence.
He was ready to grovel.
"I have a task for you. Investigate this other world. I need information," Haru's cold voice echoed through the desolate realm.
"Your will be done."

In a Plane, Above New York City.
A young man with messy black hair stood on a small motorboat, his gaze distant, his expression vacant.
He looked to be seventeen or eighteen, a cigarette dangling from his lips, a walkie-talkie clutched in his hand, his voice a monotone as he spoke to someone on the other end.
A woman's voice crackled through the speaker.
"Such a catastrophic failure. 'bang, bang', It seems my time is up. I should retire. 'Bang, bang.'"
He knew the bangs weren't random noises.
They were the sounds of Ghouls pounding on the cockpit door. The woman was trapped on a plane circling above New York City's airport.
"And what will you do... after you retire, Natalia?" His voice was calm, his hands steadily mounting a rocket launcher onto his shoulder, aiming it at the plane above.
Hundreds of Ghouls were on that plane... if they reached the airport, the casualties would be catastrophic. He knew this.
He also knew Natalia, who prioritized her own survival above all else, would do anything to ensure the plane landed safely.
