The girl by the brook with head hung low
Looked sad, and distraught from her troubles at home
Her heart seemed so broken, and tears traced her face
Her eyes looked so grieved from the pain she had faced
My mind turned immediately to this tiny girl's age
She's too young for such sorrow, such grief, such pain
I wondered, "who will she turn to? Who, for her, will care?"
But I then saw her lift her head, and to God, say a prayer
