Okay, I think it's been too long since we did a song about this person so I figured we should go ahead and do one! Especially since there's a lot of songs about him so it's best that we spread them out.
John let out a sigh, just thankful it wasn't about him since the last song was.
"Hm, the only people that come to mind about having a fair share of songs about them are Alwyn, Jake, and Harry." Jonas said.
"And me." Matty scoffed. "I mean, she went crazy about me on her latest album. She's kinda obsessed with me if you couldn't tell."
"I feel like you shouldn't brag about someone writing songs like 'The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived' and 'loml' about you, buddy." Harry replied.
The song is from the latest album.
"See, told you!" Matty boasted.
Let's just- here.
Song: So Long London
Album: The Tortured Poets Department
Year: 2024
Song Length: 4:22
Muse: Joe Alwyn"Dammit." Matty sighed.
"See, told you!" Travis mocked, and Matty just rolled his eyes.
"So Long London sounds like a very sad song title." Conor said.
Well, why don't we find out!
*the song starts*
I saw in my mind, fairy light's through the mist. I kept calm and carried the weight of the rift. Pulled him in tighter each time he was drifting away. My spine split from carrying us up the hill. Wet through my clothes, weary bones caught the chill.
"Woah, that bell kinda sound was beautiful." Jake commented.
"Yeah, it sounded like wedding bells, a little bit." Lautner added.
"I can already tell from that first paragraph that this is gonna be full of metaphors and words I've probably never heard of." John said.
"It's probably not hard to find words you've never heard of." Alwyn mumbled, but not loud enough for John to hear.
I stopped trying to make him laugh. Stopped trying to drill the safe, thinkin', how much sad did you think I had in me? Oh, the tragedy. So long London, you'll find someone.
"I think it's important to note that at least she's saying that she hopes I find someone." Alwyn said. "Instead of saying, y'know, they hope my life was shitty and they hoped I was in prison like she did about someone else." He said, gesturing to Matty.
"When did she say she hoped he had a shitty life?" Conor asked.
"In another song, The Black Dog." Alwyn replied.
"Do you listened to multiple songs off of this album?" Calvin asked.
"What? No- shut up." Alwyn scoffed.
I didn't opt in to be your odd man out. I founded the club she's heard great things about. I left all I knew, you left me at the house by the heath. I stopped CPR, after all it's no use. The spirit was gone, we would never come to. And I'm pissed off you let me give you all that youth for free.
"That one kinda reminds me of that one lyric from You're losing me when she says "my heart won't stop anymore." Lautner said. "That parallel is amazing.
"How are you remembering all of these past lyrics to connect them to other ones? 'Cause I- are you taking notes??" John asked, looking at the one and paper in Laurent's hands.
"I happen to be a great friend of Tay and know how good she is with connecting songs and lyrics! If I have to be here I'm making the best of it." Lautner defended.
For so long, London. Stitches undone. Two graves, one gun. I'll find someone.
Travis smiled, looking down and picking at the skin around his nails.
And you say abandoned the ship, but I was going down with it. My white knuckle dying grip. Holding tight to your quiet resentment and my friends said it isn't right to be scared every day of a love affair. Every breath feels like rarest air, when you're not sure if he wants to be there.
"I'd love to know what friends she's talking about." Jake said.
"Probably Selena or Abigail." Joe sighed. "I swear, whenever we had the tiniest fight she always went running over to whichever one of them were closer."
"Well, whenever we have a disagreement, we always talked it out instead of did storming off snd she was always happy do it that way so clearly that's on you or something." Travis replied.
So how much sad did you think I had in me? How much tragedy? Just how low did you think I'd go? Before I'd self-implode. Before I'd have to go be free.
You swore that you loved me but where were the clues? I died on the alter waiting for the proof. You sacrificed us to the gods of your bluest days. And I'm just getting color back into my face. I'm just mad as hell 'cause I loved this place.
Joe sighed, crossing his arms and thinking back to all the broken promises. The promise of marriage, the promise of kids, the promise of forever, all gone.
For so long, London. Had a good run. A moment of warm sun, but I'm not the one. So long, London. Stitches undone. Two graves, one gun. You'll find someone.
*the song ends*
And there we have it! Any thoughts?
"I liked that one." Harry said. "I'm just glad I'm not the London she's saying so long to."
"Technically she wasn't saying it to me either!" Matty said.
"No, she did." Jonas replied. "Just in... a lot harsher words."
"All I know is that Tom and I made it out alive!" Harry said, high-fiving Tom. "Hell yeah!" Tom exclaimed.
"I like that the whole song wasn't, like, Scathing. It was more of a, kinda, 'I'm sad that we're over just like that but I hope you find someone else and I hope I do too.' And it wasn't like 'fuck you' like the ones about that man."
"Hey! She's never said that exactly!" Matty Defended.
"Yeah she did. Track four." Joe replied.
"So you really have listened to it! Especially if you know what track number it was."
"No I- shut up!"
I lowkey had trouble with coming up with the dialogue for this chapter ngl😭
Anyway, I hoped you liked thisss. It was highly requested🫶
Now I gotta do school work🙃
Bye👋
