Yuu silently walked over the dull grass, taking the extra measure to keep his presence as silent as physically possible, he knows that no student would stakeout by his former dorm building. No, he isn't sure where Velvette and Grim are staying, just that wherever they are isn't with him.

The ghosts saw him come home pathetically the day the results and the truth had came out, and when they knew the wager, they ever so kindly made a hole in the back wall for Yuu to sneak in to take refuge.

He hunches his back and crouches, feeling the rough texture of the house, seeing his hand dip through, he rolls into the wall, his body disappearing with no trace except a small ripple effect on the wall. He let out a deep sigh as he scans over the empty ramshackle building.

Today had honestly been a bit too daunting on his form, he's tired from his long and busy shifts at the Mostro Lounge, so he wastes no time to flop onto his bed, curling up when he feels a hard surface under him, hissing a curse from his chapped lips.

As one would expect, when you take the extra broken down and dirtied room, your bed ought to be trash as well. He won't lie, when he moved in, it looked like the oldest thing in the whole damn place..! His bed has been bugging him the entire time, but since he wasn't working outside of doing school stuff, he never needed it to be some cloud like heaven.

But now he just can't handle the idea of sleeping like this forever. Not after the amount of shit he's been having to endure during his stay.

The brunette sits up and sifts through his covers, irritation pulling at his top lip, his face adorning a scowl, his mood has been spoiling so much more often from his short nights of sleep and this shitty mattress.

Having enough, he pats the entire surface of his subpar mattress, searching for the source of his discomfort. He paused when his hand patted down and a thud sounded. Yuu tilted his head curiously, his expression softening as he removes the bedsheets concealing the hidden object.

It was shoved into the very side of the bed, from the slightly tilted position Yuu found it in, one would even think that the thing was haphazardly shoved into that spot.

Yuu is on his knees when he pulls the box like object out from his bed, a book. The he sighed when he saw that it left a nasty ass dent, it was dirty too, like dust freeze dried into the fabric, staining it with a antique shade of grey and brown.. though he guessed that since some of the hues matched with the book in his hand, it's most likely stained from that. it didn't really relieve him though.

Yuu finally turned his worn out attention to the book in his lap, he checked the spine for a title, feeling puzzled when it turns out that it was almost completely faded, but after squinting his eyes, he could only read out: For What it's Worth,

It was sewn on the dark crimson background in a dirtied honey gold, right at the top of the cover, perfectly centered as a cover should be.

Yuu then carefully open the book, flipping the cover over, and it seemed like time had stopped.

It was no weapon, but something about it, about how it was placed in center of the ruined pages- it unsettled him deeply. When he fully opened the book, it felt as if some 'old' air spilt into the atmosphere around him, slowly infecting his silent gasp.

This book is no thin story book, it was thick, maybe the width could rival that of an old religious text like the Bible. But in the middle of the all the pages, the center of all of them were surely ripped out, ruined, all to make space for this mysterious, thin thing...?
