Chapter 52
The oppressive silence of the Choi mansion's grand hall was broken only by the rhythmic pacing of Seok, his polished shoes clicking against the cold, imported marble. Lisa, bound tightly to an ornate, gilded chair, watched him with a gaze as sharp as the obsidian daggers he favored. The air crackled with unspoken animosity, a tangible tension that hung heavy between them. "You," Seok began, his voice a low, venomous drawl, "a mere stray, a foundling, chosen over me? Over the blood heir?" He gestured wildly, his movements betraying the barely contained rage simmering beneath his composed facade. "Mr. Choi, my uncle, my own flesh and blood, bequeaths everything to you, a nobody?" Lisa, her jaw set, met his gaze unflinchingly. "He saw what you were, Seok. A betrayer." The words hung in the air, a stark accusation that sent a ripple of fury across Seok's features. He stopped pacing, his eyes narrowing into slits. "Don't you dare speak of him as if you knew him! You're nothing but an interloper, a pretender. And don't call him 'Dad'! You have no right." He leaned closer, his voice dropping to a menacing whisper.
"Your real father, Sun, he got what he deserved. Just like you will." The confirmation of Sun's death, the man she'd known as a complex figure, both friend and rival to Mr. Choi, struck her like a physical blow. The raw, unfiltered rage that surged through her was almost overwhelming, a tempest confined within the fragile shell of her physical restraints. Seok, sensing her inner turmoil, smirked, a cruel twist of his lips. He pulled a folded document from his inner jacket pocket, a triumphant gleam in his eyes. "Mr. Choi's will. And as you can see," he unfolded the paper, holding it up for her to see, "you are the sole beneficiary. But," he paused, his eyes glinting with malicious intent, "I have a solution."
He produced a pen, the metallic click echoing in the silence. "Sign this renunciation. A simple declaration that you refuse the inheritance. Then, we can all go our separate ways." Lisa, her eyes fixed on the document, saw the carefully crafted words, the legal jargon designed to strip her of everything. "Release me," she demanded, her voice firm, unwavering. "Then, we'll discuss the terms." Seok hesitated, his eyes flickering with suspicion. He knew Lisa's reputation, her skill in combat, her unwavering determination. But his arrogance, his belief in his own superiority, ultimately prevailed.
He loosened her bonds, a smug smile playing on his lips. "As you wish." The moment her hands were free, the air crackled with renewed tension. Lisa moved with a speed that belied her previous restraints, her movements fluid and precise, honed by years of rigorous training. She launched a series of strikes, each one aimed with deadly accuracy. Seok, caught off guard by her ferocity, fought back with a desperate, clumsy aggression, his movements wild and uncontrolled.
The grand hall became a battleground, the ornate furniture serving as both obstacle and weapon. Lisa, fueled by grief, by the burning desire to avenge Sun, her real father, fought with a ferocity that surprised even herself. She moved like a whirlwind, her strikes a blur of motion, her defenses impenetrable. Seok, despite his physical strength, was no match for her skill and determination. He stumbled, his breath ragged, his eyes filled with a dawning realization of his impending defeat. With a final, decisive strike, Lisa disarmed him, sending his weapon clattering across the marble floor. Seok crumpled to his knees, his face a mask of disbelief and rage. Lisa, her chest heaving, her eyes blazing, turned her back on him, her focus now solely on Jennie. She slipped through the mansion's labyrinthine corridors, her footsteps echoing in the silence, her heart pounding with a single, unwavering purpose: to rescue the woman she loved.

The damp, cold air of the basement clung to Jennie's skin as she struggled against the ropes binding her to a rusted metal post. Min-jun, his eyes gleaming with a disturbing mix of adoration and possessiveness, paced before her, his voice a low, insistent murmur. "Jennie, my love, you know I only do this because I love you so much." Jennie, her face pale but her eyes blazing with defiance, spat back, "Love? This isn't love, you monster. I hate you." Min-jun's expression shifted, a flicker of wounded pride crossing his features. "It's that woman, Lisa, isn't it? She's poisoned you against me." Jennie scoffed, "Lisa had nothing to do with it. You destroyed our marriage with your greed, your violence, your obsession."
