When a pure blood werewolf turns sixteen, they are officially considered an adult. Everyone knows that when they turn sixteen, they find their mate. It's a magical thing really. However, both parties have to be sixteen. If the wolf's mate hasn't turned that special number yet, they're stuck alone until their mate does turn.
But when the person that's been destined to be with be with them becomes an adult, they can finally sense them as their mate. And for most, there is one choice. To take them as a their mate, have a few pups, and live a long, happy life.
But if one of the pair is an alpha, there's two choices. They can accept their mate, or begin the process of rejection, which can be fatal in certain situations. While it's painful for both parties, the alpha usually lives. No telling what can happen to the other person.
The younger wolf does not become eligible for mating until the exact second of their sixteenth birthday.
And that is where our story begins.
