Tumblr request  - Can I request a Kayce Dutton x female reader fic where he gets hurt riding his horse but he tries to hide it from the reader and then something happens and she gets mad at him for keeping it from her?

“Here let me help you out of there.” Kayce Dutton, my boyfriend of three months, got out of the driver's side of his red and white truck and came over to the passenger side, opening the door for me.

Swinging my legs out first I nervously eyed the hospital boot on my right foot that I had to wear for the next few months after I fell off my horse during my cattle roping competition where my horse made a wrong move.  “Thanks, babe.  I’ll try to not be too much trouble for you.”

“You could never be too much trouble for me, Y/n.  My whole life is full of different types of troubles but you certainly aren’t one of them.” Kayce wrapped one arm around my waist assisting my balance while I moved around on one foot so I could keep pressure off my boot for a little while.

Kayce helped me upstairs to his bedroom and had me lay down in his bed.  And for the next few weeks he took care of me like a mother would their own child.  Sitting upright on the edge of the bed I bent down, beginning to unstrap the boot from my foot right before the specific cowboy entered his bedroom that I have been sharing with him for the past couple of months since we had officially become an item.  “You could’ve called me before you started undoing the straps.  I wouldn’t want you to accidentally fall and I would not be there to help you back up.” He lowered himself down onto one knee pushing my hands away so that he could gently pull the boot off my foot.

Brushing some fallen hair behind my ear I released a breathe I was holing in as I wiggled my toes inside my sock, feeling relief from not having it on my foot anymore.  “Ah, that’s better.”

“What do you say, wanna give it a shot?” My boyfriend asked me to raising himself up from the wooden floor.

Holding my hands out to him he intertwined his hands with my own. Closing my eyes for a moment I opened them again before I pushed my feet down against the floor and used my strength to force myself to stand up from the bed.  My formerly injured ankle was a little stiff when I moved but that wasn’t what surprised me once I was standing upright after two months of mostly laying up in the bed.

“Aaahh!” Kayce winced, dropping his right arm and holding his shoulder blade with his other hand.  A clear look of discomfort streaming across his face following the painful sound that had escaped his lips.

Making a face at the cowboy I gently touched his clearly injured shoulder with a feather light touch of my hand.  “Kayce, did you injure your shoulder recently?”

“No. No, it’s fine - I’m fine.” He shook his head quickly in response, dodging  my question and changing the subject.  “How is your ankle?”

“Kayce, don’t lie to me.”

He raised his hands up as much as he could without hurting his injured shoulder.  “Y/n, I’m fine really.  I’m more worried about you than myself.”

“You’re lying.  I know you’re lying to me.”

Kayce attempted to keep switching the conversation until I grabbed his right shoulder slightly tight and he winced giving me my answer even if he wouldn’t verbally give it out to me.  “Y/n, I promise I’m not - ah shit!” He pushed my hands off of his shoulder and rubbed it with his freehand.

“Why would you lie to me about an injury when I didn’t lie to you about my own.  When and how did it happen?  Why didn’t you tell me the truth Kayce John?”

He slumped his shoulders in defeat only saying a short sentence.  “I didn’t want to worry you.”

“Not telling me so I would not worry has now made me worry.” Throwing my hands up in the air I raised my voice at the man standing before me now.  Tears began falling down when I clutched my hands into fists and started hitting him in the chest.  “We promised each other that we would never lie to one another.  And what did you do - you lied to me anyways!”

Kayce grasped my wrist with his own hands, getting in my face with our chests nearly pressing up against the others.  “I didn’t lie to you for no reason, darling!”

“What was the reason then?” I shouted back at him sniffing back some tears.

Kayce cradled my face in his hands pressing his forehead down against my own, thickly swallowing before he told me why he kept something from me when we vowed that we never would do something like that to each other.  “I fell off my horse the same day you were told you would have to do physical therapy and wear your boot from your rodeo accident.  I was - I knew that you were going through the worst and I couldn’t imagine adding anything else onto your mind.”

“Oh Kayce.” Moving my hands up to grip his shoulders I sucked in a deep breath.  “You could have told me.  Regardless of how much I felt like the world was against me, I never wanted you to think that you couldn’t talk to me about something like that.”

The youngest Dutton son bent his head and stepped away slightly so he could wipe away some tears from his brown eyes.  “The other thing is that I was just embarrassed.  I haven’t fallen off my horse like that since I was five years old.”

“Hey, it’s okay.  We all make mistakes.”

He nodded his head slowly in agreement before I grasped his hand in mine and led him over to sit down on the bed.  “Yeah, I guess so.  Wait - what are you doing?”

“I am going to grab some pillows from Tate’s room and come back to put them underneath your arm.  I know that you need to keep your arm upright so it can heal some from the fall.” Putting my hands on my hips I glared at him knowing he wouldn’t like sitting back and letting me take care of him.

Kayce shifted his gaze to meet mine.  “Y/n, you don’t have to do this.  My arm will heal in a few months.”

“You took care of me and now I shall do the same for you.” I responded simply back to him, crossing the room where I could drop my arms around his neck connecting my lips with his for a gentle kiss.

Kayce wrapped one arm around my waist, deepening the kiss.  “What did I do to deserve you?”

“Just being yourself, Kayce Dutton.” Running my fingers through the hair on the back of his head I reconnected our lips and he moaned into the kiss before he tugged me down to lay beside him in the bed. “Kayce - I need to get some pillows to prop up your arm.”

He tightened his arms around my waist, shifting his body and mine so that we were more comfortable against the soft pillows.  “You can do that in a minute.  Right now I want you to stay right here with me.”

“You’re serious about this?” Looking up into his deep brown eyes that were fixated on me and only me.

Running my fingers through his messy brown hair kissing his cheek and laying my head on his chest enjoying the simple moment of how we would always take care of each other.  “You always make me better just by cuddling with me, darling.”
