Chapter FOUR, P2; Mermaid Caverns

Three suspicious figures tip-toed across the streets of an innocuous town at night.

They arrived at a heavily guarded stable and peered through the cracks of the door.

I was one of those figures.

"Honestly, this isn't the right thing. If my mother saw me now I would get the beating of my life-" I blabbered.

Karry and Roy hushed me so violently I clamped my mouth shut in fear.

"Did you hear something?" A fat, bald man said to another.

There was silence, probably them trying to hear anything suspicious. "Nah. We have to stop drinkin' on the job, the boss will get bonkers about it." The other said.

Roy then looked at both of us, "So you catch the drift." He whispered, "You watch movies don't you?"

Karry and I both nodded solemnly.

"Well, then you'll probably be familiar with the whole 'I'll-distract-this-guy-and-you'll-get-the-prize' plan." Roy grinned.

I gaped, "But Roy, that's a little too risky, not to mention cliché."

"Do you have any better ideas?" Roy snapped, "Besides, these guys look dumb enough to be fooled. They probably don't even have movies in this world."

I sighed, "Fine. But if we get caught it's gonna be all your fault, you hear?"

Roy ignored me, "Right, I'll try to buy you guys some time." Then he hopped out, waving casually.

"'Ey, look. It's a kid." The fat man said, "Bro, look."

His brother turned around and smiled dumbly, "Hey there, kiddo." Then he crouched down, his knees creaking as he did so. "You lost?"

Roy shook his head innocently then he glanced sideways at me and Karry, "I heard you keep Pegasus in here."

"Yeah, we do." The fat man sniffed disdainfully, "We're guarding it. It's location whereabouts is top-secret."

Roy's eyes almost popped out, "Really? You must be strong!"

"Yeah, we are, lad." The skinny man boasted and grinned,

"I bet the Pegasus will never get stolen with you two on guard. No one will ever know where to get it!" Roy exclaimed.

They laughed stupidly, "Wanna know a secret, boy?" The fat man asked.

"Yeah!" Roy replied cheerfully.
