It took a few tries to get Matt Smith's outfit right
Although they finally settled on a classic look of tweed jacket and bow tie - the latter apparently Smith's idea, as he was an admirer of Second Doctor Patrick Troughton, who wore one - other costumes were considered: a sharp businessman, a sort of Peter Pan/pirate and a Nineties waiter, all of them based around a slightly-too-small waistcoat.
