Chapter Four- Everflame City

Totodile clung to her arm tightly. "Totodile?" She murmured. "Dile!" It squeaked. "Mizu, your name can be Mizu." Mizu whined before a stream of water shot out of his mouth soaking her shirt through. Sora sighed. She knew she couldn't blame Mizu; after all he was only a baby. "Hey loser!" Sora spun around, it was Yuki. "I see you got a new Pokemon!" The words weren't sneered but friendly. "Yes" she murmured. "His name's Mizu." Yuki clenched her fist. "I want to battle you!" Sora sighed; somehow she knew it would come to this. "Look, I'll battle you tomorrow, my Pokemon need to rest." Yuki sighed. "Fine but it'll be a three on three battle at the Pokemon Centre." Sora nodded and watched as Yuki walked in the direction of the Pokemon Centre. Sora hoped her Pokemon were well rested for tomorrow because they were going to need it.

Sora awoke to a blue crocodile's face nudging her. Sora did the only thing that seemed to work, she screamed. "Dile?" Sora sighed before scooping up the confused Totodile in her arms. "Let's go, we have a battle to win." Sora walked out of the Pokemon Centre to find Yuki waiting for her at the battle field. "Took you long enough." Sora snorted. "Teddiursa I choose you!" Yuki threw a Pokeball and in a flash of white light a Pokemon appeared. It looked like a bear cub with short orange-brown fur and a large crescent moon on its head. Sora pulled out her Pokedex and scanned it.

Before food becomes scarce in wintertime, its habit is to hoard food in many hidden locations. Current level: 25 Known moves: Faint Attack, Fury Swipes, Sweet Scent, And Fake Tears

I have just the right Pokemon. "Alright Ryuu Come on out!" Sora's Gabite appeared on the battle front in a flash of white light. "Teddiursa use the Fake tears, faint attack combination!" Teddiursa clambered up to Ryuu and burst into tears however Ryuu wasn't affected at all. Thinking that Ryuu had succumbed to his cuteness, Teddiursa hit Ryuu on the arm as hard as he could. "Ryuu use dual chop!" Ryuu's arms glowed white before his arms made impact twice, knocking Teddiursa to the ground. Teddiursa groaned from the affect of the super effective attack. "Quickly Teddiursa use sweet scent!" Teddiursa opened his mouth and a beautiful scent wafted out in the form of a pink cloud. "Bite!" The cloud flew through Ryuu who had to cover his eyes to keep it from stinging his eyes. "Now Teddiursa, use fury swipes while Gabite is distracted!" Teddiursa's cute face formed into a smirk as he combined faint attack to disappear behind Ryuu. Teddiursa's sharp claws lengthened, before glowing white. "Teddiursa!" The bear Pokemon cried before he raked his claws across Ryuu's side. "Let's finish this, Ryuu use dual chop!" Ryuu spun around and glared at the Teddiursa before his arms glowed white and he hit the Bear Pokemon. The two simultaneous attacks caused a small explosion. As the smoke cleared Ryuu sprang back. "Teddi..." Teddiursa groaned. Yuki returned Teddiursa to his pokeball before tossing another one. "Growlithe I choose you" Yuki's second Pokemon appeared on the battle field in a burst of white light. It had a short rounded muzzle, a small fluffy tail, a tuft of fur on top of its head and rounded ears. It had bright orange fur with black stripes over its back and forelegs. Sora pulled out her Pokedex and scanned the dog Pokemon

Extremely loyal, it will fearlessly bark at any opponent to protect its own trainer from harm. Known level: 25 Known moves: Leer, Fire Fang, Flame Wheel, Reversal

"Let's beat Gabite!" Growlithe barked in agreement. "Ryuu get up close and use dual chop!" Ryuu sprang at Growlithe, his arms glowing white. "Use fire fang and don't let go!" Just as Ryuu's glowing arm was approaching, Growlithe opened his mouth, his fangs bled with fire. Growlithe sank his fangs into the arm. "Bite!" Ryuu cried out in pain. "Use dragon rage!" Ryuu launched the beam of fiery purple energy at the unsuspecting Growlithe. The attack sent both Pokemon flying. Ryuu easily stood back up but Growlithe was having trouble. "Growlithe use flame wheel!" Growlithe jumped to his feet and charged toward Ryuu, his entire body coated in flames. The dog Pokemon roared as he tackled Ryuu to the ground. "Then use fire fang!" Growlithe quickly bit down on Ryuu's side. "Ryuu use dual chop to knock Growlithe off!" Ryuu's arm glowed white before he slugged Growlithe in the face. Growlithe fell heavily to the ground. Ryuu's face turned smug. Sora nearly slapped her fore head in exasperation for Ryuu being so arrogant. "Growlithe use reversal while Gabite is distracted!" Growlithe sprung up, his paw glowed with a faint fiery aura before he launched himself at Ryuu. The paw collided with Ryuu's side, sending the Gabite flying. Gabite landed on his back and lay unmoving on the ground.Sora sighed and returned Ryuu to his Pokeball before she froze. I wonder... Mizu had spent a long time play fighting her other Pokemon yesterday giving him the experiance he needed to at least start battling foes who were weakened from battle. "Mizu, I want you to battle." Mizu squeaked as Sora lowered him to the ground. Growlithe smirked at the level 5 Pokemon. "Growlithe finish this with flame wheel!" Growlithe barked before charging toward Mizu as flames engulfed him. "Mizu use water gun!" Mizu whined before the uncomfortable feeling campe upon him and he shot the concentrated stream of water at the oncoming flame wheel. As the water hit, the fire sizzled before exploding. Growlithe was then sent to the gound where he rolled before he finally stopped. "Growl..." Growlithe shakily stood back up onto all fours. Sora gasped. "But that move should've finished him off!" Yuki smirked. "Growlithe isn't as helpless as he seems now use flame wheel to speed up then use fire fang!" Growlithe once again charged toward Mizu engulfed in flames they extinguished as Growlithe launched himself at Mizu, his mouth streaming with embers."Use bite!" Mizu squealed as Growlithe's fangs latched onto his arm before he bit down onto Growlithe's paw, hard. Growlithe yowled before he accidentally spewed up flames creating an explosion. Once the smoke cleared, Mizu and Growlithe were seen lying on top of each other. Sora ran over to Mizu and scooped him up into her arms while Yuki returned Growlithe to his Pokeball. "Wartortle I choose you!" The familiar turtle Pokemon appeared on the battle field in a flash of white light. "Rai let's win this battle!" Rai yowled in agreement as he was released from his Pokeball. "Wartortle use bubble beam!" Wartortle opened his mouth and let loose a stream of bubbles on course toward Rai. "Rai use thundershock to counter!" Rai concentrated before releasing the weak shock of electricity. The two attacks met halfway and exploded, it was a tie. "Rai jump in the smoke to hide yourself then use wild charge!" Rai bounded into the smoke before sprinting out the other end, a field of electricty surrounded his body. "JOLTEON!" Rai roared as he slammed into the dazed Wartortle. However Rai had only hit Wartortle's shell and as Rai was damaged by using wild charge it provided Wartortle with the perfect oppotunity. "Wartortle use bubble beam then use rapid spin!" Wartortle roared before launching a stream of blue bubbles. The bubbles hit Rai dead on, knocking him back. Wartortle retreated into his shell before it started to spin rapidly. That too hit Rai dead on. "Can you still battle Rai?" The Jolteon nodded. "Okay then use thundershock as revenge!" Rai glared at Wartorlle heatedly who merely smirked. "JOLTEON!" Rai's entire body glowed with static electricity before he let loose a huge bolt of electricity. The bolt of lightning hit Warotortle who yowled in pain. "That was thunderbolt" Sora whispered. "Rai you learned thunderbolt!" Rai smiled as Wartortle glared at him. "Rai use thunderbolt!" Rai's body once again glowed with electricity before he launched the bolt of lightning at Wartortle. "Wartortle use protect!" Wartortle thrust his arms in fron of him and a green shield appeared. The thunderbolt hit the shield before disappearing entirely. "Rai keep using thunderbolt, Wartortle can't keep using protect forever!" Rai launched thunderbolt upon thunderbolt as Sora watched Wartortle use protect. After what seemed like forever, Wartortle's protect shattered allowing the thunderbolt to hit him. "Rai use wild charge to finish this!" Yuki cursed. "Oh no you don't, Wartortle use bubble beam!" As Rai charged toward him, Wartortle launched the bubbles of water that flew threw the air. The bubbles dazd the Jolteon as it hit him. "Rai use thunderbolt to charge!" The static around Rai glowed even brighter as the thunderbolt charged up his weakening attack. "Jolt, Jolt, Jolt, JOLTEON!" He roared as he hit Wartortle. Rai sprung back to Sora knowing that they had won the battle. Sora watched as Yuki returned her Pokemon to its Pokeball before walking over. "That was a good battle." Yuki nooded before smiling. "From this moment on I declare us to be rivals!" Yuki pumped her fist into the air. "See you in Everflame City then. I can watch the Gym Leader mop the floor with you!" Yuki waved behind her back as she ran. "Let's go Mizu!" The Totodile in her arms merely sqeaked in reply as she ran up the path.

"Finally made it!" Sora exclaimed as she walked into the great city. "Time to challenge the gym!" Sora ran as fast as she could to the Pokemon Gym. She opened the glass door and walked in. "I want to challenge you!" She yelled. "I'll battle you!" A child's voice said from behind her. Sora squealed and spun around. The boy facing her had bright red hair and pale green eyes. "Are you even the gym leader!" The boy pouted. "My name is Kai and of course I am!" Sora sighed. "Lead the way." Kai walked up to the battle field and took his place as Sora took hers. "This will be a one on one battle between Sora of Earth Town and Leader Kai of Everflame City, now begin!" Kai immediatley threw a Pokeball. His Pokemon appeared in a burst of white light. It was a baboon type Pokemon with bright orange fur and a blue 'mask' on its face. It possessed a long tail with a large flame similar to Azai's burning on it. "Monferno!" Sora pulled out her Pokedex and scanned it.

A bigger fire on its tail and a brighter blue pattern on its face means that its rank in its pack is higher. Current level: 30 Known moves: Flame Wheel, Fury Swipes, Mach Punch, Leer

"Ryuu, I choose you!" Sora's Gabite appeared on the battle field in a burst of white light. "Monferno, start this battle using mach punch!" Monferno's fist glowed white as he sprung up to hit Ryuu. "Ryuu, counter with dual chop!" Just as Monferno was approaching, Ryuu's arms glowed white before they collided with the oncoming fist. Both Pokemon were sent staggering back from the sheer force of both blows. "Ryuu use sand tomb!" Ryuu quickly summoned and launched a barrage of sand at Monferno. "Use mach punch to blow it away!"Monferno thrust his glowing fist forewards and completely blew away the sand. Monferno excitedly jumped. "Ryuu use dragon rage!" The Gabite stared at the playful Monferno before launching the fiery energy. "Monferno dodge it!" Monferno easily jumped out of the way and where he was before was where the attack hit. Sora growled. "Ryuu use sandstorm!" Ryuu easily formed the sandstorm that quickly turned harmful. "Monferno stop this sandstorm with flame wheel!" Monferno had to block that sand and grit from his eyes before he jumped and coated himself in flames, headung toward Ryuu. "Ryuu use dragon blitz!" Ryuu quickly coated himself in dragon rage before launching himself at the raging flame wheel. The entire gym shook from the force of the two attacks. Ryuu could be seen through the smoke, barely holding himself up, Monferno was no better. In fact, Monferno's tail was blazing and he was surrounded by a fiery aura. "Monferno, let's finish this, use flamethrower!" Monferno quickly spewed up a large flame that was on course toward Ryuu. "Ryuu use dragon rage as a distraction then get up close and use dual chop!" Ryuu quickly launched the energy beam tensing as both attacks exploded in the middle. Ryuu quickly sprung into the smoke that was created and sprinted toward Monferno, his attack growing stronger at every passing second. "GABITE!" He roared before hitting the tired Monferno. Monferno flew back on landed on his face. "Monferno..." He groaned. Kai returned Monferno to his Pokeball as Sora returned Ryuu to his. "And since Monferno can no longer battle, Sora of Earth Town is the victor!"

"Please accept the Blaze Badge!" Sora placed the fire shaped badge next to the bubble shaped badge. "Thank you so much for battling me Kai!" Kai merely smiled. "It was my pleasure."
