"HEY GUYS, WELCOME BACK TO THERAPUSS,"

Haley Madden and Jake Shane had been talking about doing a podcast episode together since season one of Percy Jackson aired — and a year later, they were finally making it happen.

She sank into the blue couch next to Jake's chair, grinning like they were just catching up instead of recording for half a million listeners. It felt easy, familiar. They'd been texting about this for months — mostly in chaotic voice memos and all-caps plans — and now here they were, mics on, studio lights up, actually doing it.

Finally.

"Today, we have one of my favorite actresses. I wanna say 'rising star' but she's risen. She is literally one of the hardest workers I've ever met. Her name is Haley Madden, you might know her from Percy Jackson, the Barbie movie, or Twisters. She's amazing, she's such a star -- and I'm so excited for you guys to get to know her a little more," Jake started, before turning over to Haley, as if inviting her to start off the podcast.

"Hi, pussies," Haley sang, smiling at the camera. The grin on her face said, Yeah, we're about to get real messy—and you're here for it.

"Okay, first of all, I need to say this — I'm obsessed with you. Like I'm obsessed. You walked in and I was like, 'Wait... why do I feel like I'd die for her?" Jake joked.

Haley groaned playfully, "Yes, please die for me,"

"No, but like—I saw you in Percy Jackson and I was like, 'Oh, she's the girl.' Like, capital T, capital G. You just have that vibe of like, the girl who knows where all the good snacks are and also could emotionally destroy me."

"...I do know where all the good snacks are."

"See?! Psychic. Okay — before we get into Percy Jackson, I need to ask you about Twisters," Jake leaned back in his chair, a grin spreading across his face. "I actually watched Twisters in the theater when it came out. Your scenes? Honestly, solid. And, I did a podcast with Gwen Powell once, and he couldn't stop talking about you. Said you were super chill and totally crushed it,"

Haley laughed, brushing a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "Yeah, I know. I think my brother showed me that -- I died. I love Glenn so much, he even gave me some tips on how not to lose my mind when things get crazy while we were filming,"

Jake nodded, his tone turning a little more thoughtful. "That's huge. This whole industry moves so fast. One day you're just dancing in your room, and the next, you're on camera, doing podcasts, filming movies -- the whole nine yards,"

"Yeah," Haley said, her voice softening a bit. "Dancing's been my thing forever. It's like my safe spot. No matter how crazy everything else gets, I can just throw on some music and choreograph whatever I'm feeling,"

Jake smiled, clearly impressed. "Sounds like your anchor."

"Exactly," Haley jumped up, pointing at him. That was the analogy she used anytime someone spoke to her about dancing. "Plus, my brother's friend Cameron Boyce taught me a bunch of moves before he passed. Dancing's kind of my way of keeping him with me."

Jake's smile faded into something more sincere. "That's really beautiful, I was a big fan of him,"

"He was so sweet," Haley smiled softly.
