"I'll be right back," he promised as he headed for the door.

"Okay. And Jim?" I asked.

"Yeah?" he turned to me.

"I promise to not leave you," I told him.

"Thanks," he blushed.

He left to find his mother while I breathed in and out slowly so less blood would come out. They finally came back and put me on antibiotics.

"Mrs. Hawkins..." I started.

"I've told you Jamie. You can call me Sarah." she told me.

"I'm sorry, I just like being respectful," I told Sarah.

"Well, I appreciate it. But I give you permission to do so," Sarah explained to me.

"Okay. Sarah, how does it look?" I asked, politely.

"Well, you were right it being non-lethal. But it needs to be stitched up," she told me.

"Alright then," I answered.

"I'll go get a needle and thread. We'll just have the wound go numb," she replied.

"Okay, thanks," I remarked. "Your welcome," she told me.

As she walked out, she said, "Jim, you can come in now."

Sarah leaves and Jim knocks on the door.

"She said you could come in," I chuckled.

"Yeah, SHE said I could. You didn't," he emphasized.

I laughed, then said, "Fine. You can come in."

"See how that's better?" Jim said as he entered.

"I guess," I answered.

"So, what did my mom say?" Jim asked.

"She said it was non-lethal, but it has to be stitched up. It's numbing now," I replied.

"That's good. So, can I ask you a question?" Jim asked.

"Okay sure," I said.

"Can I...Never mind," he stopped.

"No, please tell me. I think I know what it is," I suspected.

"What do you think it is?" he wondered.

"Tell me and I'll tell you," I simply said.

"Fine. I was wondering if...I could kiss you," he asked.

"That's what I thought it was," I snickered.

"Wow, you're good. So, can I?" he politely asked.

"Please do," I smiled like crazy.

He leaned in and kissed me. Sarah entered but saw us. She slowly backed away smiling until we were done.

"Okay, so you ready?" she asked me.

"As ready as I'll ever be," I said nervously.

Jim held my hand while I got stitched up. It took a while but she finished and I was going to be fine. I stood up and walked. Everything was back to normal-ish. Then Jim and I sat on the bed.
