I walked along the sidewalk, awed by the endless blue sky above.
I lived on the edge of Houston in a small house with my mom and dad.
I didn't think much of the landscape, but the sky was beautiful and that's all I needed.
I had some good friends at school on my track team. I was the captain and the fastest.
They said it looked like I was flying out on the track.
To bad I couldn't go to school today.
A sharp searing ache in my shoulder blades followed by tiny burning sensations all along my body made me wince and remember why I was skipping school today.
For the past week I had been racked with strange soreness all over my body.
And I kept getting these weird dreams that I couldn't quite remember, but they were cutting into my sleep. Waking me up in the middle of the night with heavy breathing and a cold sweat.
Now all I can think about is that sky, calling to me...
