It's been nearly a year since Tony helped Rudolph and his family and Tony has convinced himself that he'll never see Rudolph again.
Somehow he's okay with that, but only because he knows that Rudolph will at least be happy now that he's a human out in the world somewhere.
He hasn't seen much of Elspeth either, she began school in the spring and only recently got out for summer break. She has completely devoted herself to the craft and grows more powerful everyday. It gives her something to keep her mind off Gregory. Tony can see she's well on her way to becoming one of the most powerful witches in her family.
"Hun, let's go to the market down the way," Dottie says to Bob one day during the summer. "I want to get some fresh fruits and vegetables."
____________________________________Tony follows his parents around the market silently as his parents pick through fruits. He sees a moving truck at the old manor, someone new is moving in.
Tony breaks out into a smile when he sees two humans who are the spitting image of Rudolph and Anna. He runs closer to them as quickly as he can.
"Hey!" He greets them enthusiastically. They look at him, confused, and back away. "It's me Tony!" Rudolph pulls Anna away from Tony but she goes back for her bag.
Before they can leave Tony begins whistling, softly and off tune at first, then the strong whistle Anna had taught him rings out.
The two children look at Tony curiously before they smile and run over to him.
"Tony dearest," Anna says as she and Rudolph both hug him.
"Dude, you came back," Tony says happily. Frederick and Freda come around the corner, both dressed very contemporary, and gravitate towards Tony's parents. The last to appear is Gregory, eating an apple. He joins the group of children.
"Tony, it's good to see you. How is...how's Elspeth?" He asks quickly.
Tony shrugs slightly, "I don't see much of her. She just finished up her first semester of college and she spends all day and night practicing her craft. She's really powerful now, dude. She's probably out at the cliffs right now, she goes there a lot." Tony notices how different Gregory looks as a human. He looks healthy and a lot less tired without the dark rings around his eyes. He's even changed his hair, letting the medium layers at the crown of his head lay flat to one side, rather than spiked.
"Thank you," he says before leaving to find Elspeth.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Elspeth travels slowly through the forest, her hands trailing over ever tree she passes. The smells of the forest remind her of Gregory's earthy scent, like fresh pine and juniper, and for a moment she has to blink back tears. She reaches a particularly dark patch of the forest, the trees pack so tightly that they block out nearly all sunlight. She holds one hand out in front of her and white, wispy light bursts forth from her palm. As she traverses the dark patches, Elspeth sighs. True her longing and sorrow had given birth tomotivation to gain more power and strength than Elspeth ever thought imaginable, but the ache in her chest was becoming unbearable as the year dragged on.
Extinguishing her light, Elspeth emerges from the forest at the cliffs where, nearly a year ago, the vampires' wish was granted.
A lone person stands near the edge looking out wistfully at the crashing ocean waves. Probably feeling her eyes on them, the stranger turn to face her. Elspeth's heart nearly stops.
Gregory smiles at her, the sun shining beautifully upon his face. Elspeth runs to him faster than she ever thought possible for her short legs and throws herself at him. He gladly embraces her, lifting her off the ground and swinging her around.
"Hello my love," Gregory whispers affectionately. "Forgive me, I've been away from your side far too long, haven't i?" He kisses her forehead first, then her nose, and then pulls her close, his hands cupping her face gently. He kisses her with everything he has. Their lips move with an urgency and passion, each of them starving for the other's touch.
The two part and look outward upon the ocean. The future, and the sun, Elspeth thinks with an inward giggle, has never looked so bright.
Whelp that's the end! The next chapter titled "epilogue 2 [sequel]" is the second version of this epilogue that will lead into the sequel. If you wanna continue with this story go ahead and go there next! If you'd like to end it here then thank you very much for reading. I had a lot of fun rewriting this old fanfiction and I hope you all enjoyed it.
