Danny's POV
I am surrounded by complete darkness. I know I'm not in the shadows, because the windows are not present. I try to open my eyes to see where I am, but I can't. Then I hear someone open a door.
"Cindy, how is he?" A female voice asked.
"The same. I'm worried that he may never wake up. He's been asleep for almost a week."
'A week? Using my powers have never left me that drained before. But I haven't used that power before. How did I even do that?' I thought.
"I'm sure he'll wake up soon. Lizzie said that she's never seen him do anything like that before. Maybe it's a new power that his body is adjusting to." I have to admit, that does make sense.
"I just want him to wake up. I know Lizzie misses him. I do too."
"I know what you mean. I never thought that anything would happen to my big brother. He's one of the strongest men I know." A few minutes past before Jackie said bye and left me and apparently Cindy. I wonder how long she's been here. Just as I thought that, I lost consciousness again. The next thing I knew I was standing in a field surrounded by trees. As I turned around, looking at my new surroundings, I beautiful woman approached me.
"Hello, Danny." She said. When she got closer I knew who it was.
"Sarah? Where am I? I thought you were dead."
"I am, silly. I'm just here to fill you in on something. There is a major threat coming. I don't know what or when, just that you will need your new power, and your new mate to face it."
"So you're not upset about her?" I asked.
"No. You deserve to have someone that makes you happy again. And Lizzie deserves a mother figure, to help her."
"I still love you, Sarah."
"I know, but I am your past, and she is your future. But you must go back. You must start training. You need to train Lizzie too. She will start getting the same powers as you. Perhaps even the new one."
"What was that anyway? I've never been able to do anything like that before."
"It's like your ultimate power, I think. Once you've practiced it, it won't drain you as much." She told me. Then she started moving away from me. "It's time to go back. Tell Lizzie I love her." As she said this, she started fading from my sight, and I was left in darkness once again. When I woke up, I noticed Cindy with her head on my hospital bed by my right side, asleep. I reached over with my left and brushed a bit of hair out of her face. When I did, she opened her eyes. When she saw that my eyes were open, her eyes widened and huge grin appeared. She leaned over and kissed me gently, before getting the doctor.
"Cindy, I need you to call your dad for me."
"Huh? Why?" She asked, with a confused look.
"I'll explain when he gets here. Please, call him." Her eyes glazed over, showing she was mind-linking her dad. Just as her eyes returned to normal, the doctor came in.
"Well it's good to see that you're awake."
"Thanks doc. How long have I been out, exactly?"
"Ten days. She was really worried. She's been here since they brought you in." No wonder she looks to tired. After the doctor finished checking my vitals, Cindy's parents came in, followed by Lizzie.
"Daddy!" She cried as she ran up to me. "I thought you wouldn't ever wake up."
"You know I'll be around for a long time." I told her. "Lizzie, I need you to go outside while I talk to the alpha, okay."
"Come on Lizzie. Come with me and we'll get your dad something to eat, okay?" Cindy's mom and Lizzie then left the room.
"Danny, what is going on? I've never heard of a shadowalker having that kind of power." Her dad asked.
"Then you know what I am. But we have a bigger problem that what I am." I told them.
"What do you mean?" He asked "How do you know?"
"While I was out, I saw Sarah. She told me that the power that I used was like my ultimate power. She also said that there was a major threat coming, but she didn't know what it was or when it would get here."
"Did she say where the information came from?"
"No. But the most likely source is the moon goddess. It wouldn't be the first time that she told Sarah about something like this."
"Then we better start training the warriors harder."
"And I need to train myself and Lizzie more also. Especially, my new power."
"Okay."
"I'm still confused. What exactly is a shadow-walker?" Cindy asked.
"I'm like a human, but I'm made stronger in the shadows. I can also use shadows as a way of traveling, and as a means of defense, or even as a weapon, apparently." I turned to her dad. "How soon can I get out of here?"
"Well, you apparently heal like a human. So, about another day."
"That may not be entirely true. As long as I'm here I heal like a human. But, when I go into the shadows, I heal as quick as a werewolf, if not a little faster." The doctor walked in and Cindy's dad talked to him convincing him to let me leave and take me to the shadows.
