 Daisy's POV

"Yes, yes of course. Come in, Freddy, please." I said. He limped in, eyes frantic and darting. My mother pushed a salad in front of him, and he smiled warmly up at her. Something about Freddy's eyes reminded me of an ox's. Big and brown. In case you haven't noticed by now, me and my mother are vegetarian. It's not like we're angry vegetarians, like 'DONT EAT MEAT OR YOU WILL GO TO HELL!'. It's just, I get queasy and sick when I eat meat, so my mother and I went vegetarian. No biggie.

Freddy didn't seem to mind the lack of meat in his salad. Actually, he seemed happy that there wasn't. As he ate, I heard a knock on the door. He looked at the door, terrified. To me, it didn't seem like a couple of school boys pushing him around. I went and got the door, despite Freddy urging me not to. The kitchen is just out of sight when you stand at the door, so I was going to say Freddy wasn't here.

When I opened the door, two large teenagers stood there. They looked like adults, they were so big. I found it hard to focus on their faces. They look menacing. They smirked at me. I barely had time to say hello before one of them punched me square in the face. I fell onto the floor, holding my bleeding nose.

"Hello, little demigod. We were looking for you, but your little protector got in our way. But now, you will die!" He was serious, and I screamed. This drew both Freddy and my mom to the door. Freddy took one look at my bloody nose, and his face got serious. I realized that when the brutes said protector, they meant Freddy. But... why was Freddy my protector? Protection from what? Demigod? Die?! What!?!

"You little shit... If you lay a hand on her again I will personally skin you alive with my bare hands." Freddy said. Why was he protecting me so fiercely? I didn't understand, but my mom did. She picked me up from the shoulders and dragged me farther away.

"Haha, the little satyr thinks he stop us! We should show him what we think of petty satyrs!" Said the one who punched me. Satyr? As in.. half-goat? No... really? There's no way. Is there?  As all this ran through my head, Freddy had kicked the door closed, in the faces of the brutes.

"Run, Daisy! Get out! I'll fend them off, take this!" Freddy yelled, handing me a letter. My mom picked me up and ran with me, as I was to shell-shocked to move.

For a moment there, it looked like those brutes only had one eye.

My mom sat me in the front seat of her car and floored it. We sped of, losing the house in a cloud of dust. Suddenly, I regained my sense.

"Mom! What are you doing! Freddy needs our help! He cant fend of two giant teenagers alone!" I yelled, my kindness getting in the way of my reason.

"Daisy! Stop ignoring your eyes! You know what you saw! Those were not teenagers! Those were freaking Cyclops's! We can't fight those guys!" My mom yelled in response.

She had seen it. They only had one eye.

"Mom, it doesn't matter! Whoever they are, Freddy needs our help! He's going to die in there mom! Stop the car!" I screamed, and put my foot on the brakes from across the seat. I opened the car door and ran back to the house. My mom yelled at me from the car.

When I got back to the house, the Cyclops's were gone. I couldn't find Freddy anywhere, until I stepped into the living room.

He lay on the floor, bleeding from a head injury. He was dying. I ran over to him, and lifted his head onto my lap. I knew that even with my medical talent, there was no saving him now. All I felt was remorse.

"Daisy... the Cyclops's are gone. You're safe now. I did my job." He said, before coughing up blood.

"No no no, Freddy, don't talk. Don't speak."

"Your father... is a god."

"Shhh... Shh Freddy."

"Daisy... sing me something?"

I nodded, tears stinging my eyes.

"Hush now, quiet now, don't say any words.

Hush now, quiet now, listen to the birds.

Hush now, quiet now, look into my eyes.

Hush now, quiet now, it's time to say goodbye."

By the time I had finished my song, Freddy had gone. I couldn't stop my tears. My mom came in, having caught up to me. She knelled beside me and placed her arm around my shoulder.

"If we could have helped him..." I started, but couldn't finish. My mom handed me the letter he had given me before... before. I opened it.

Daisy , if you're reading this, I have passed. Don't worry, I'll get reincarnated as a flower, or maybe even a laurel. You need to go to Long Island. Find Camp Halfblood. Find out who your dad is. Maybe he'll claim you and give you directions, who knows. Try and survive, yeah? -Freddy

"We're going to Long Island, mom. Get us some plane tickets, We've got a camp to find."

--

"Where are we supposed to go?" My mom asked. We had just touched down in Long Island. We walked to a rental car area and got inside our new yellow jeep. Suddenly, the only thing in my mind was right right right right right.

"Right. Go right." I said. My mom looked at me funny, but decided to trust me. We went on like this, my brain telling us which way to go. I think it was my dad, but who knows. We reached the archway. Welcome home kiddo, This is where you will live now, This is Camp Half-blood  said the voice that gave me directions.

I said goodbye to my mom, and promised to visit her. I walked through camp, where I was greeted by quite a sight. A large campfire, with tons of teenagers sitting around it, all in orange t-shirts. No one noticed me. Some of them were singing, others roasting marshmallows.

One kid looked up and saw me standing there, with no bags to my name. He was the only one not wearing the orange t-shirt. He wore a black, medium-sleeved, tight fitting t-shirt. His black  hair was kind of curly, and he had tannish skin, as if he were Italian. He was kind of short, with brown eyes. He hit the person next to him on the upper arm, who turned and started to whine at him, but he gestured towards me and they stopped. This guy was taller, and had green-blue eyes. His black hair was more straight, and he had tan skin as well, but a sun-tan, not a natural skin color. Like he spent his time at the beach. He smiled at me, and shushed everyone at the campfire.

"Everyone, shut up. That means you Will, and you too, Stolls. We have a newcomer." He gestured towards me, and at the exact time he did that, a flash of golden light washed over me, despite it being midnight.

"What's your name, girl?" asked the boy who had seen me first, the outlier.

"Um... Daisy Summers?"

"Welcome, Daisy Summers, daughter of Apollo."
